General Personality: Elena is very sweet and kind, which she shows a lot, especially as a vampire. She is silly and funny too, which she shows a lot, mostly with the guy she loves so, as well as her friends. Elena is sensitive, even more now as a vampire, and will attack anyone who tries to hurt the people she loves. Elena is also very stubborn/headstrong and is she is serious about something she will put her foot down, so to speak. If she believe she is right, she won't back down, until others notice that too. She is very naive, especially as a vampire, so people can trick her, so she is slightly less naïve but naïve just the same. She is scared of hurting people and becoming a monster, so she needs to hold herself in order not to hurt people. At times she stays away from them. Elena is tough, more tomboyish rather than a woman. Not to mention over protective of the ones she loves. She is hopeless romantic, and isn't scared of saying what she thinks. Elena will tell the truth as it is. She is loyal and if she promised to keep something a secret, she will.

History: Elena was born and raised in Mystic falls Virginia as the daughter of Isobel and John Gilbert. Yet the two wanted her safe, as Isobel gave her up to adoption, to Miranda and Grayson Gilbert, to raise her as their own. Elena grow up, not knowing the truth about her family, believing she was the sister of Jeremy Gilbert. She was a popular girl, she had friends and a boyfriend, named Matt, but things changed. One day, when she was in the car with her parents the car swirled over and hit the water, as a guy noticed and jumped in after it, he tried to save the parents, but the father insisted that he saved Elena first, as he did but when he came back for them they were dead already. That guy was Stefan Salvator ye Elena found out about it later. Jenna Sommers Elena's and Jeremy's aunt moved in with them, as she gained custody of them.
When school year started, she wasn't as excited as before, as she before that broke up with her boyfriend Matt, yet the two stayed friends. Elena couldn't stop thinking about her parents, as well as the fact that she wished she died not them. Anyway, that first day of a new year in high school she met the guy that saved her life, Stefan Salvatore, as he pretended to be a student, just to get to know her and see how she was. When Elena tried to get close to him, he tried to push her away, while her ex boyfriend was Jealous. Eventually she and Stefan got together, unknowingly to her, she looked like his old flame, Katherine, since she was her Doppelganger. That year she also met Damon and became his friend. As they protected her and she their secret, and them. When her brother got too close, she asked one of the Salvatore brothers to erase his memory, which he did.
Then she met Elijah, with the others and things changed. As her teacher, her biological mother's husband, Alaric Saltzman, who was a hunter and a friend, who by that time knew about the Salvatore brothers, and forgiven Damon for supposedly killing his wife, who they found out was a live, got possessed by Elijah's brother, another original named Klaus. Yet it took them a while to figure it out, as he dated Elena's aunt Jenna. Then Klaus became himself, as he sacrificed a witch, Elena and her aunt who got turned to a vampire, to break the curse on him, not knowing there wasn't a curse at all, to begin with. It was away to make sure that he couldn't care more hybrids, as he was a result of an affair his mother had with a werewolf.
When Elena was sacrificed, she had Damon's blood in her System which revived her but not turned her. Yet her boyfriend left to protect her, as he like his brother Damon believed that she would be turned as Damon forced his blood in to her but it didn't happen that way, she wasn't turned only revived, unknown to Klaus, yet he found out eventually when his hybrids died. Elena and Damon went to get Stefan to come back, with no luck, so Elena met another witch, like Bonnie. By that time she knew her friend was a witch. Stefan came back with Klaus, by that time Klaus's sister Rebekah was awake, as they woke her up. There was an attack on the school, as Elena's friends were stuck in the gym, as Klaus and his sister didn't let them leave.
Elena was caught by Klaus, as Stefan stood up to him, until he was compaled by him to do as he asks. Elena was kidnapped and was kept in the hospital, as a compaled nurse made sure her blood was taken from her, but she was saved by Damon. A bit later Elena pretended to get along with Rebekah but put her to sleep, as she was planing to go with Matt, but was replaced by Katherine. Rebekah was woken angry, but didn't do anything for sometime, yet eventually she drew the car where Elena and Matt were at, as they were heading back because she wanted to go back to Stefan and when in the water, Stefan jumped in again, like before, as he tried to save her, but she told him to save Matt instead, which reluctantly he did. They all thought Elena died, but since a doctor by the name of Meredith Fall, gave her Damon's blood because she had a sever damage in her brain, that couldn't be cured, Elena ended up not dying but turning. It took a while, but she fed and completed the transformation. She is still with Stefan but her feelings to Damon grew as well, which confuses her a lot.
