Toothless had never hated his saddle before. Sure, sometimes it got uncomfortable and made him itch, but for the most part he seemed not bothered by it. It was light weight and easy to carry, and Toothless hardly even noticed it was on half the time. Right now, however, Toothless really hated this saddle.
The dragon felt the tug of the strap dig into his chest and roared quite ferociously in frustration, sending little birds scattering in alarm from the trees. He whipped his head around and glared at the stirrup that had gotten caught in the tangled vines of the underbrush. Narrowing his eyes a little, Toothless snorted before starting to pull, trying his best to rip the saddle out by force. All that really succeeded in doing was digging the straps further into his chest and scattering some of the leaves off the bushes though.
It had been like this all morning. The Night Fury had been exploring the forest, looking for something, anything, that might lead him to answers to how he got here or whether his friends were alright, and his broken saddle kept getting caught or stuck.
Toothless fought a long while, jumping and pulling and even flapping his wings to try and take to the air. Nothing seemed to work though. Toothless ended up falling back to the ground every time, too afraid to keep pulling in case he broke the straps keeping it in place. Finally the dragon stopped trying now that he realized that brute force was not going to succeed in unlocking the tangles this time around.
The sound of a high pitched humming began to fill the clearing, gradually getting louder and louder as Toothless worked up the gas. When the humming reached it's zenith, Toothless opened his mouth and lit the gas, sending out a pale burst of fire that soared right through the trees and beyond. There was the violent crash in the distance where his attack had struck, the blast hitting the ground and sending out a shock wave which obliterated the smaller bushes it landed upon completely, and set a few of the others within the blast range on fire.
The last of his frustration and anger left Toothless with the attack, and finally the dragon gave up trying to get unstuck. He was hungry, and he was miserable. Toothless folded his wings and collapsed to the dirt underneath him, kicking up some dust; his ears pinned back and his green eyes going back to the bush in submission. Despite how frustrating it was for him, Toothless wouldn't even allow himself to think about using another blast to escape. Despite how much he hated it right now, Toothless did not want to damage his saddle.
This saddle was not just a saddle. Hiccup had made this saddle. It was with this saddle that the two of them had forged an unbreakable bond and an everlasting friendship. And now, stuck in a strange place, Toothless had no idea where his friend was. In fact, for all he knew, Hiccup could even be dead! If so, then this broken and almost irreparable saddle was the only thing that Toothless would have left of his friend. Therefore, despite the burns and how it half hung from his body, Toothless never wanted to be rid of it.
Toothless rested his head against his paws and whined quietly. This saddle was not just a saddle anymore, but the most precious thing he owned.

A whole day! wait no, two days! it must of been two days by now! Each hour that passed, Hiccup had done nothing but search. He knew his friend had to be out there somewhere, he could feel it. His body hurt, and he bore several scratches from various objects he had been forced to climb over. His new leg was not more than what.. three days old? Slowly he had begun to work out his limits. Walking became easier, even running seemed pretty good, it was just a shame how the climbing part.. wasn't so good. At any rate he wasn't about to give up, Toothless was somewhere in this strange place and was no doubt scared. He couldn't fly without him!
With each passing thought, Hiccups determination grew. He just had to find him. Just then a distant sound filled the surrounding forest and echoed for a moment. There was only one thing Hiccup knew that could make that noise. Toothless! In that moment his heart stepped up a gear in anticipation. Could he really be here? He hoped for his own sanity it was not just a figure of his imagination, after all how many Night Fury's could there be in one place? No it just had to be Toothless.
"Hold on bud! I'm coming! He shouted, wondering if such a shout would fall on deaf ears. Who was to say how far away he was? Doing his best to leap over various fallen logs, and scramble up the various hills. Hiccup held onto that hope, that he wasn't alone on the island after all. Gradually he grew closer as the trees became thicker and more tightly enclosed. He hadn't any idea at this point if he was even heading in the right direction, but the sudden scatter of leaves a few miles ahead said otherwise, followed by the brief glimpse of light.
That wind had certainly not been anything natural, for the leaves covering the other trees barely moved. No, Hiccup was growing more and more certain with each step that it simply had to be him. It was the only logical explanation he could think of.. then again if it was another dragon.. he'd have his work cut out. Still, he'd get to that bridge when he got to it. With his breath coming out in harsh short pants as his heart continued to race, Hiccups entire body filled with hope, he wasn't alone after all!
Running now on adrenaline alone, Hiccup finally reached a thinning of the trees. There just ahead, with his head nestled a top his claws was Toothless. The area around him was evidence enough that there had been some kind of struggle.. "Toothless! Hiccup shouted as he ran the last meter towards his friend and companion. As he reached Toothless, Hiccup through his arms around his neck and hugged him tightly. He had never been so, worried as he had been in that moment, at the idea of actually having to face this unknown place alone. Thankfully that was not the case for he knew that as long as he had Toothless everything would be alright.
It was only as he pulled back did he notice the state of the saddle and with it Toothless's position. He was stuck, tangled in an assortment of vines. "It'll be okay bud, we'll get you out" Hiccup said with reassurance. Moving to the side Hiccup grabbed hold of the saddle and gave it a light tug. Nope, it was definitely not going to move any time soon. Reaching for the strap, he grasped it and then closed his eyes only to pull at it with all his might. The sound of a soft click alerted Hiccup to the fact that the saddle had come undone. Naturally though, with all the strength he had asserted Hiccup ended up flat on his behind. At least the saddle was detached, the only problem now was getting it unhooked from the vines.

One of his ears twitched, and the Night Fury lifted his head, hope starting to warm the embers inside of his broken heart. The voice had been just a whisper though, and honestly Toothless didn't know if he could trust whether it was actually what he thought he heard, or if it was just because he desperately wanted to see his friend again. Yet, despite himself, the hope that he had began to grow until a small fire before he could stop it. His heart began to bound against his scaly chest, and the sound of Toothless breathing fast and heavy through his nose began to fill the silent clearing around him. Toothless whirled his head around this time he could have sworn he heard footsteps, ears rigid and his eyes widening as he stared out at the trees before him. They didn't sound familiar, but that voice... Could it really be...?
The dragon's heart did a complete summersault in his chest when he spotted that familiar head of shaggy hair. It was! It really, really was! That small fire exploded inside of him, the heat of happiness and the electricity of excitement gushing through out his entire body. Toothless leaped back to his feet, body trembling, pupils enlarged, and his ears pinning back to his head as he started making various sounds of happy growls and warbles freely. In that wake of such bliss, Toothless forgot all about his previous struggles with the saddle, and he leaped as if about to run to Hiccup as his friend scrambled through the forest towards him. The straps tightened on his chest and violently stopped him short again of course, yet, the dragon hardly seemed to notice this time around.
Hiccup was alright! And Hiccup was here with him! The Night Fury's body stopped trembling as Hiccup wrapped his warm arms around his neck, relief suddenly spreading through him. Hiccup was alive. Closing those green eyes, Toothless lowered his head and placed his chin gently against Hiccup's shoulder, enjoying and returning the hug as best he could for a dragon. His best friend was more than just alright, he was alive.
Toothless grumbled a reply as Hiccup pulled back, stepping to the left so the boy could study the saddle. His green eyes were full of trust and admiration as he watched Hiccup study the saddle. At first Hiccup tried to pull it out of the vines, and Toothless grumbled and shook his head as if trying to tell him that wouldn't work. Toothless had struggled so much that it had gotten tangled further, and without a knife there was probably no way that it was going to successfully get it out. The only other option was to take the saddle off, which was something Toothless couldn't have done at all on his own. He saw Hiccup turn to do so and he lowered his head so the other had better reach, bracing himself when he felt the boy tugging. There was a click and then suddenly the saddle gave way sending Hiccup to the ground.
Toothless was free! The dragon snorted, shaking off his body from head to tail, before turning back to Hiccup. The Night Fury probably would have run circles around him, and lick his friends face, but that fuzzy feeling in his veins turned cold when he realized that Hiccup wasn't actually alright after all. The dragon's pupils constricted a little. The scratches were nothing. Hiccup may seem weak to the other Vikings, but Toothless knew his friend was a lot tougher than he looked. No, those green eyes zoned in on the metal leg. The Night Fury walked over to him and sniffed the foreign appendage, before looking up at the boy and furrowing his brows a bit; whining gently.

Having pulled at the vines with no success, Hiccup took note of his friend as he shook his head. Patting down his pocket, and along his belt he realized that the knife he usually had secured within his pocket had been lost. "Urgh great.." he complained before the only possible solution was then made clear. Take off the saddle. So with all his might, Hiccup yanked at the straps that secured the saddled, once the 'click' had sounded, Hiccup had ended flat on his behind. With that Toothless was then able to dislodge the rest of himself leaving the saddle remaining tangled within the mass of vines. The most important thing however, was the fact he was free and seemingly unharmed.
As his friend wondered over towards him, Hiccup grinned only to extend his hand to touch Toothless's nose. However in such a short space of time Hiccup noticed his friends varying degree of change as he came to examine the prosthetic limb. Sitting back on his hands, Hiccup shrugged his shoulders and replied. "It's not as bad as it looks, It takes some getting used too, but hey it could be worse right?" he chuckled with optimism before he for a moment struggled to get to his feet. Yep.. the getting up part had not yet been mastered but he would get there eventually.
Toothless at that moment bowed his head and gave Hiccup that little bit of the boost that was needed in order to stand. Smiling in his thanks he stroked his friends nose for a brief moment. Dusting himself off, Hiccup made his way over towards the saddle that remained suspended. "Well.. It's safe to say this saddle has had it's day." he sighed, although he felt some small amount of disappointment at that fact, it really was nothing. The important thing above all was that Toothless was okay, and they were together.
From behind him Hiccup felt the smallest of nudges on his back. Turning around to face his friend Hiccup offered a small smile, lifting his hand again lightly to stroke his head. "Don't worry, we can make a new one, there must be somewhere around here. For now, it's just you and me on the ground" he stated. Pulling his hand back he placed his hands upon his hips, and examined his friend. "The important thing is that your okay, you are okay right? No scratches or anything?" He asked, with the smallest concern.
Tilting his head back wards the sky he gazed there for a long moment. Where were they? Now that he had found his friend, Hiccup was able to finally take in their surroundings. Everything seemed different here, it even smelt different. They were definitely no longer on Berk. Tapping his fingers lightly on his hips Hiccup glanced around, just there there was a loud gurgling sound, whether it had come from Toothless or himself he didn't know, but he knew one thing was for sure. He was starving! Looking toward Toothless Hiccup spoke. "I don't know about you bud, but I'm starving.. lets go get something to eat."
With that Hiccup took a step, unsteady at first but within moments he begun walking like nothing was wrong. All they had to do now was find a stream or even a lake and hope that there were some sort of fish available..

Worry became incredulous. It was exactly as bad as it looked. But, Hiccup didn't seem troubled by it too much, and was exactly right; it could have been worse. Toothless whined gently again when the boy started to struggle, automatically lowering his head so he could offer his friend help if he needed it. And once the boy was up, the Night Fury watched him and that metal leg as Hiccup walked back towards the saddle, like how a mother cat would watch it's kitten playing too close to the edge of a table; prepared to come to his aid if he sensed the other was about to fall.
Once it seemed that Hiccup was going to alright, the dragon followed his friend towards the saddle that was still stuck. The dragon took a deep breath and sighed with his friend. The saddle had lost some of it's imprtance now that Hiccup was alright and standing with him, but it was still special. The dragon thought back to all that time Hiccup had spent connecting pieces and perfecting it and it came with a realization that Hiccup was probably dissapointed that it was lost. It was one of his best inventions no doubt (though Toothless could be a little biast about that), and a symbol of their friendship, but it wasn't the most important thing.
Toothless bumped his head gently into Hiccup's back to try and distract him from it, and it seemed that Hiccup had already been coming around to thinking the same thing on his own. Toothless shook his head a little and pressed his head into the others hand, closing his eyes briefly in pleasure.
At least until he was asked if he had any scratches. Toothless huffed out his nose and gestured towards Hiccup with his nose, very obviously pointing out that the boy had more scratches than he ever would. A dragon with hard scales may not be ax or sword proof, but he was most definitely going to survive a few scratches. However, seeing the boys concern, Toothless shook his head and warbled for the other's benefit.
The dragon stood beside Hiccup now, making sure that it was on the side that the prosthetic leg was in case it failed or Hiccup needed Toothless for balance. The dragon waited, curious to know what the other was thinking as he glanced towards the sky and then around the clearing. It turns out that whatever it was, was definitely not as important as a growling stomach. Toothless' ears raised a little, and his green eyes immediately went to the others torso. It reminded him of how hollow his stomach felt, and Toothless licked his lips.
Normally at the mention of fish Toothless was excited. He would warble excitedly and practically run circles around his friend. This time however, aside from a quiet purr and a happy wide eyed look, Toothless made sure to stay close to his friends side. The dragon watched his leg while Hiccup was unsteady, prepared for anything, and then moved his gaze back up to Hiccup when his friend seemed to right himself. Toothless was not confident in knowing that Hiccup really was alright with that new leg, and until he was sure, Hiccup was just going to have to get used to him walking so close and watching him.

Toothless's reply caused Hiccup to chuckle "Of course you don't, Your a dragon after all." Hiccup mused, as relief begun to flood through him. Of course he wouldn't of been hurt, what was he thinking? Toothless was a tough dragon through and through. In response to his comment, Toothless licked his lips, a notion again that cause Hiccup to laugh softly. They were both hungry, it was both odd, yet exciting to think they could read each other, he had been told many times that there was really no other bond that matched up to his and Toothless. The pair had been through a lot together and this new place was just another adventure.
Smiling towards his friend, Hiccup waved his hand in gesture for him to come along. "Lets find us some dinner" he stated. For the first time in three days, Hiccup felt happy.. despite not knowing where they were, or where the others were. He knew for a fact Toothless had his back, just as Hiccup had Toothless's. As they begun walking, Hiccup grew aware of Toothless's unusual habit of walking closer than he would normally do, especially on his left side. Hiccup knew exactly what he was doing butl he didn't mind, it was a new place after all and after the battle with the Red Death it had certainly been a close call, not to mention a bit of shock for everyone, even himself and probably Toothless too.
Still, both of them were safe and both of them were together, so it didn't matter what direction the two of them took, as long as they were together. First thing first, after they had found something to eat, was to get a new saddle, maybe then they would be able to get out of this place. They just had to find somewhere to make it.. and the materials needed to make it, no problem right? The sooner it was done, then the faster they could leave, Hiccup almost didn't dare to think about what his father must be doing in order to find him, probably tearing the village apart looking for him no doubt.
For what seemed like hours the pair walked, occasionally Toothless would duck his head beneath Hiccups arm at the smallest of wobbles, and it was welcomed. "Really bud, I'm okay. It takes some getting used too but- Wait.. do you hear that bud?" Hiccup said, pausing mid sentence. His mouth was dry and his stomach hurt so much from the hunger that the sound of running water had never been more welcomed. Picking up the pace Hiccup broke into a jog then, no more than a few feet away they came across a running stream, where there was stream there just had to be fish somewhere.
Reaching the waters edge, Hiccup crouched and slowly edged his way towards the stream. Cupping his hands together he scooped up a hand full of water and splashed it over his face. Repeating the action this time round, Hiccup took a long awaited gulp of water. Now they just had to find the fish, and catch some before night fell. Which judging by the slowly dimming light would not be too far off.

So far so good. There was an occasionally wobble here and there where Toothless would react almost immediately, but for the most part his friend seemed like he did have a handle on it. Hiccup couldn't blame him though, really. The last he had seen of his friend had been when Hiccup had been knocked out of his saddle by the Red Death's tail and sent Hiccup falling towards a wall of flames. Toothless was reminded of just how fragile his human friend really was as well. Toothless was bound to be overprotective of his friend, especially after being separated with nothing but his worry to keep him company the last couple of days.
The dragon looked up at Hiccup from under the others arm after another misstep, obviously prepared to disagree with him with a flat look. However, his ear started to twitch when he thought he heard the familiar sound of water. He looked towards the trees where the sound seemed to be strongest, and in his distraction Hiccup was suddenly gone. The Night Fury made a soft chirping sound in surprise, ears raising straight up on his head, before he quickly raced after his friend.
Toothless weaved through the trees remarkably well for a dragon with a forty-eight foot wingspan, but he was anything but graceful. Unfortunately, the Night Fury was built for flying, and not for the ground. He ran fast, but he paid little attention to the things on the ground, and his tail smacked into the bushes as he went. Toothless was more silent in the forests of Berk because there weren't as many trees and bushes hardy enough to survive there. Here, however, Toothless was lucky that he didn't have to hunt animals, because he could probably be heard from miles away with all the ruckus he made.
Bursting through the clearing only a couple seconds after Hiccup, Toothless shook his tail free of some of the leaves before following. The sun was beginning to descend across the sky, but it still reflected off the clear water making it appear like perfect glass. There were small divets in the surface as little bugs scattered across it. Toothless walked across the grass towards the muddy bank. As he settled down to drink, Toothless could feel the sudden dryness of his throat, and he leaned down to gratefully lick at the waters surface.
He remained there for a while, enjoying the coolness of the water as it soothed his parched throat. Suddenly a small frog popped it's head out of the water just a few paces beside him, and the Night Fury recoiled sharply in surprise, looking at it as the frog looked back up at him. For a moment the reptile and the amphibian seemed to have a stare down, before the frog disappeared again. Toothless tilted his head to the side and lowered his nose to the water to see if he could try and find it again, warbling curiously.

Forgetting about his hunger for the moment the sweet refreshing feel of the water as it slipped down his throat and trickled down his face was heaven. He hadn't realized how thirsty he was, nor how humid the air felt. The cold water was pure and utter bliss and with a thankful smile Hiccup glanced over to his friend who was drinking the water like his life depended on it. Walking over to his friend, Hiccup placed his hand on the the dragons neck, giving it a very soft rub.
He really was glad he had Toothless to keep him company, for who knew what could of happened. It was a fact that Hiccup really was nothing without his dragon. He relayed on his friend as much as he relayed on the oxygen he needed to breath. The sound of a small plopping noise caught Hiccup's attention as well as Toothless's so it seemed who appeared to have a one on one with a frog. Chuckling suddenly Hiccup grinned, as his friend went back to the water.
"It's only a frog, there's loads of them around here" he commented, just then Hiccup heard the sound of splashing, he hoped it would only mean one thing. Glancing down stream he spotted a group of fish, trying to swim upstream. Heading towards the school of fish Hiccup watched them for a moment, there was no way he was going to catch them with his bare hands. They were too far in for one and Hiccup didn't really fancy getting soaked considering these were his only clothes. Suddenly an idea came to his mind, snapping his fingers to display his eureka moment. Hiccup headed off but not too far away from Toothless who was watching his every move.
Eventually finding what he was looking for, he pulled at the branch, with a series of grunts and groans, the branch eventually gave way. It was sturdy and strong and would serve him well as a spear body. With branch in hand Hiccup headed back towards the river where he dunked his hand in. Moments later he pulled out a piece of rock, it had jagged edges and looked plenty strong enough, looking towards Toothless, Hiccup felt the need to explain himself. "We can make a spear, it would make catching fish easy." he grinned, making his way to the nearest rocks. Sitting back upon his heels Hiccup made light work of bashing the rock into shape, until eventually he was left with a spear head. All he needed now was something to tie it together.
A problem which could prove tricky, as you weren't exactly just going to find some rope lying around. After a moments silence Hiccup grabbed at a strand of his frayed jacket. Hopefully it would be strong enough. Moments later Hiccup stood and presented Toothless with his first spear. "What do you think bud? It's no fishing net but it will sure get us something." he grinned giving it a light wave with his left arm. Yep, it wasn't great but it was the best he could come up with.

Frog! Toothless looked at Hiccup and purred, his tail wagging in the dirt excitedly. Maybe one day he would try and find more of them, however, right now the two of them had to solve their hunger problem. Toothless looked over towards the sound of splashing at the same time Hiccup did, his excitement ever growing. He followed Hiccup towards the splashes, licking his lips again and his pupils widening as he watched the silver scales of the fish flash under the water.
Unlike Hiccup, Toothless didn't care too much for getting wet. His scales were too smooth and had little absorption, so the water would just end up sliding off of him. The dragon suddenly crouched low to the ground on the bank, watching every move that the fish made under the water, as if prepared to pounce.
The pull of hunger was powerful, but not enough to completely engulf Toothless' focus. The snapping of Hiccup's fingers disrupted the Night Fury and made Toothless reluctantly tear his gaze away from the deliciously easy targets in front of him. Instead he watched his friend head back towards the woods. The dragon didn't want to leave the bank, but he sat up and took a step as if to follow his friend anyway. Watching the fish had been torturous though, and drinking the water had done nothing to sate his hunger. In fact, it had almost made him hungrier.
Hiccup returned triumphantly with his branch. Curiosity started like an itch until the Night Fury couldn't stand to ignore it any longer. He left the stream so he could try and figure out what Hiccup was doing with his rock and his branch. It was always fascinating for the dragon to watch Hiccup invent things, since he didn't possess the thumbs or the ability to do so himself. Toothless didn't want to get in the way, so he stopped a short distance from the other, lifting his head to sniff the air curiously. A spear? Toothless warbled questioningly. That was a spear? Wait, what's a spear? It catches fish? How is a branch and a rock going to catch a fish?
Green eyes surveyed the branch as Hiccup finished. The dragon leaned foreword to sniff it, still very confused and very curious to figure out how such a thing worked. But then Hiccup waved it in front of his nose and Toothless' pupils began to widen again. It was the only warning Hiccup was going to get before the dragon suddenly grasped the spear in his mouth and tried to tug it out of his friends grasp, hoisting himself on to his back legs as he did. This also had the added benefit of allowing him to twist around as soon as he had the spear securely in his teeth, tail and wings almost smacking his friend right in the face.
This was his 'spear' now!

Showing Toothless his new implement was probably the worst thing Hiccup could of done. No sooner did he wave the object in front of his friend, before Toothless grasped the implement in his mouth and pulled at it. "Toothless! Hiccup protested, as he tried to pull it out of his friends mouth, however Hiccup was anything but strong and he certainly stood no chance of beating a dragon! Holding on as he did Toothless held onto it, only to stand back on his haunches, with it however he picked up Hiccup off, of the floor only to try and shake Hiccup free.
His teeth rattled as Toothless shook the spear, and within moment Hiccup landed on his behind for a second time that day! Clearly eager to get his food, Toothless bounded off towards the fish, his tail narrowly missing Hiccups head as he ducked.
Stupid reptile, he thought to him self before he climbed to his feet and headed after Toothless. As it would appear Toothless certainly seemed to be having some difficulty in using the object. Standing behind his dragon, Hiccup put his hands on his hips as his face scrunched into one of mild annoyance. "Toothless, drop it! your not going to get anything like that!" Hiccup called out to the current one track mind of Toothless who was thinking with nothing else but his stomach.
However as soon as Hiccup approached Toothless, he was off, bounding away from him. He was not going to give the spear up. With a huff, hiccup chased after him, clearly not as fast as he once was but determined all the same.
For a while this game of cat and mouse continued and Toothless showed no sighs of giving the item up. "Okay that's it" Hiccup expressed as he looked to his friend sternly and with sharp movements pointed his hand down wards. "Toothless drop." he both stated and questioned, if that didn't work then he could always tickle him into dropping it. Finally managing to get the item off Toothless, Hiccup sighed, thankful that it was still in one piece. "Look Bud, this is how you catch fish." he stated before heading over to the streams edge. It was getting dark, and rapidly at that. They had to get something to eat or they were both in for a rather sleepless night.
Watching the fish for a moment that had only succeeded in moving up stream a fraction. Hiccup waited for the perfect opportunity before he thrust the spears head into the water. Miraculously he got one! Pulling it back out of the water, the fish at it's tip wiggled for a moment. "See bud, that how you catch fish.. without waving it and scaring the fish away." At that point Hiccups stomach grumbled, reminding him that he was still hungry. Pulling the fish off, Hiccup threw the fish to the floor and went for his second kill.
After a few attempts he caught one, and was about to add it to the other one when he realized it had gone. Although he knew exactly where. "Toothlesss.. " Hiccup whined with a roll of his eyes somewhat before he sighed. Well at least Toothless was eating, with a smile none the less Hiccup pulled off the fish and threw it towards his friend.

Toothless headed over towards the stream with his new found prize, however, wasn't exactly sure what to do with it now that he actually had it. The Night Fury chewed the wood absently mindedly as he watched the shimmering forms of the fish in the water, pacing the shore. The dragon rotated his ear behind him when Hiccup told me to drop it, but hardly spared the boy a glance.
The dragon did jerk his head around when he heard Hiccup come closer. Toothless snorted and leaped away from him, and down the bank when Hiccup followed. Now it was a game, where the dragon continually stayed just out of reach much to the dismay of his rider.
Suddenly Hiccup's tone changed, no longer whining but stern. The Night Fury came to a complete stop then, turning to face and return to his friend. Green eyes followed Hiccup's hand as it shot the ground, and he whined while reluctantly releasing his hold on the spear and depositing on the ground by Hiccup's feet. It landed on the ground with a wet smack, covered in the dragons saliva.
Hiccup picked it up and directed both of them towards the stream so he could give the dragon a proper demonstration. Toothless stood beside him on the bank, purring gently and tilting his head to the left as he watched in fascination. Hiccup threw the spear into the water and when he pulled it out again, there was a fish on it! Perhaps a rock and a branch could catch a fish after all!
However, then Hiccup made another a mistake. Really, the boy should have known better than to turn his back on a hungry Dragon. Toothless really did try and control himself, but each time the fish flopped on the ground slowly wore away his control down. Eventually it was too torturous, and Toothless left the bank and snatched up the fish in mid flop. He was half way through eating it, the tail still sticking out the side of his mouth, when Hiccup turned around and caught him.
Despite Hiccups whine, Toothless threw his head back and swallowed the rest of the fish whole. When he finished he licked his lips before warbling pleasantly in response. Despite how upset Hiccup had been, the dragon had obviously been forgiven, because his friend tossed him another fish. Toothless caught it in his mouth effortlessly, tossing his head back and finishing that fish too.
An edge was taken off his hunger then. Toothless still felt his stomach complaining about the empty space, but at least he didn't feel like he would crumble up into a ball and starve anymore. Toothless licked his lips again, realizing that Hiccup was probably starving too. Worried about his friend, Toothless wondered how he could help him catch some fish so they could both eat. And that was when he was struck with a brilliant idea.
The dragon suddenly got to his feet and trotted away from the shore and up the bank, back towards the forest. He searched until he found a young tree that he could wrap his strong jaws around and rip cleaning out of the ground. He struggled with it, before a giant crack suddenly exploded in the clearing as the wood shattered. Toothless returned to Hiccup with the tree in his mouth.
With which, he promptly tossed into the stream; swinging his head and letting it go. The water rushed to get away from the offending log, exploding out from underneath it and saturating the bank. Believe it or not, there actually was one fish that was unlucky enough to get caught in the blast and sent flying out on to the bank, however, it was far too close to the water, and it managed to flop it's way back in before either of them even had a chance to realize it had been caught.
((OOC: The idea was too cute too pass up~ X3))

When the spear was dropped Hiccup's face twisted into a mild look of disgust at the site of it coated in dragon saliva. He didn't know what he disliked most, Having his hand coated in dragon saliva, or having half a fish dumped on his lap after being chewed. Urgh, the thought of it made him cringe. At any rate picking it up with hesitant hands, he groaned at the wetness of it, before he then made his way over to the stream and begun to demonstrate, the how to part. Having successfully caught his first fish, that was gone within moments, for Toothless decided his hunger simply could not wait. So upon his second fish, Hiccup threw it towards his friend who caught it within his mouth and pretty much swallowed it whole.
Pleased that his friend at least had something to eat, Hiccup begun to work upon catching his third fish. It was definitely a slower process then using fishing nets, yet what could you do? He couldn't just make one out of thin air, so for now this would have too do. As Hiccup fished, he hadn't grown aware to the fact that his friend had wondered off. Moments later, three fish later to be precise Hiccup was just pulling his third one of the stick when there was a sudden splash. In slow motion, Hiccup watched as Toothless came trotting back with what appeared to be a tree. An actual tree! Before Hiccup could say anything the log had hit the water, sending masses of the stuff splashing all over the place and in the process drenching him.
As the water subsided, and ran back into the river. Hiccup stood there looking anything but impressed, his hair was flattened and currently sticking to his forehead, his clothes clung to him tightly, which made him look two times smaller than what he was. Yet as he looked over to Toothless who looked extreamly proud of him self, Hiccup smacked a hand to his forehead. He couldn't be angry at Toothless for what he did, for he had only wished to help. With a large sigh, Hiccup made his way towards his friend as he squelched and petted him softly upon the forehead. "Close enough bud, but that was just a little bit too big." He mused as he watched the one fish flop back into the stream.
Well he had the basic idea and he couldn't fault him for that. It certainly would of been something though, seeing a dragon use such tools in order to get it's dinner. Ringing out his clothes, Hiccup made his way towards the river edge. The fact that he couldn't actually reach the water now didn't matter, instead Hiccup carefully stepped onto the log, that shifted slightly causing his arms to flay for the moment. Balance was perhaps one of Hiccups worse possible flaw, for the simple fact; He didn't have any.
Despite this, Hiccup then carefully came to crouch upon the log, looking over the edge he could see various fish tails. It had worked! Surprise flashed across his face, the log had in fact trapped several fish in a small area. Which meant that they would be easier to catch. Carefully leaning over, Hiccup plucked the fish from the water that flapped around in his hand, yet still he held onto them. With a grin he turned to his friend and made his way back to the river bank. "Look bud, you did it!, It worked! he said before he pet his friend a second time in praise. "Sometimes, you surprise me. You really are quiet intelligent." he praised, before he then added the fish to the pile. They now had ten fish in total, sure it wasn't a lot but it would do them.
"We need some fire Toothless." He asked, as he separated the fish. For him, he placed one of them on a stick whilst the other nine he carried over towards his friend. "I know it's not much, but this should fill you up just enough until tomorrow." he stated. Once the fire was lit, Hiccup held his fish over the fire. He would make do with the one, after all. Toothless needed to eat more than him, and Hiccup would manage with just the one.
Settling himself down on a small rock, Hiccup placed his elbow upon his knee, and his chin upon his hand. The smell of the slowly cooking fish, caused saliva to pool within his mouth and his stomach rumble.

The dragon was quite proud of himself indeed; sitting straight and with his chest a bit puffed out like a rooster. Well, that was at least until he looked back over at his friend and realized he had gotten him soaked. Amusement crept into the Night Fury's expression then, and he made a raspy cackling sound which was most obviously a laugh. Soon enough though, Toothless had to face the facts that he was never going to be a very good spearer of fish. The dragon's ears twitched at the sound of Hiccup's squelching clothes. And really, the Night Fury hadn't intended on that to happen either. He purred and pressed his head into Hiccup's hand as soon as the other reach foreword to touch him, looking up at him with big round eyes that were just begging to be forgiven. Of course, secretly, the dragon still found it a little funny.
Toothless followed Hiccup to the stream when the other pulled away again. At first it was in contentment and companionship, but it quickly turned into worry when his friend took a step on to his spear and began to wobble; making the dragon heart leap up into his throat. The dragon paid little head to the water, hurriedly following Hiccup with a whine and splashing in the water. And Toothless didn't calm until Hiccup not only stopped flailing his arms about, but until the boy stopped trying to walk across the log completely.
Then Hiccup reached into the water with his bare hands and pulled out another fish. Green eyes focused on the flapping of the fish and his gaze remained undivided as he followed Hiccup back to the bank again. The fish that he had been able to get before was like a tease, and now Toothless was absolutely possessed with the thought of being able to eat it. In fact, Hiccup petting him in praise wasn't enough to divert him for long this time. He did grace the other with his gaze and a slight chirp, before his attention went right back to the pile of fresh fish before them. Toothless didn't even realize Hiccup had asked him to make him a fire at first, too busy licking his lips and anticipating the meal, that it was almost a little bit of a shock to suddenly realize Hiccup was prepared to do that peculiar thing he did, holding a fish out over a fire that Toothless was supposed to light for him.
Without hesitating another moment, Toothless took a deep breath, focusing on controlling the flame he was about to produce, before shooting out a small jet of red-orange flame. It hit the ground and immediately took hold, embers crackling. Toothless then walked over to where Hiccup took a seat, crouching down in front of the pile. He grasped one of the fish in his teeth, letting out a low sounding hum that could have easily been a 'mmmmm'. The dragon was absolutely ravenous. Then again, how could he not be when he hadn't eaten much of anything since he had arrived here. In fact, Toothless was so ravenous that he didn't even lay down, snapping up the fish greedily and creating quite a mess of slime, scales, and sometimes tails or heads.
It wasn't until Toothless had gotten through five more fish did the dragon start to slow down. He grumbled a bit, feet curling underneath him and his body finally settling down on the grass below him. His tail made a soft scraping noise as it curled around the rock Hiccup was sitting on. Now the dragon ate with much more care, lifting the fish carefully and tossing them back into his throat. It wasn't nearly the amount of fish Toothless was supposed to eat on a daily basis, but it was enough to sate him for now.
Toothless was done before Hiccup even got to start.

By this point the night had finally settled in around them, causing Hiccup to shiver. Despite the fact his clothes were wet, he was freezing. When had it gotten so cold? Thankfully however as soon as Toothless lit the fire, Hiccup edged closer. The warmth caressed his torso, his face, arms and leg and it was the most wonderful feeling he could of imagine at that moment. He could feel the warmth slowly begin to creep it's way back into his body, and all the while Hiccup slowly rotated the fish on his stick. Glancing over towards his friend Hiccup watched as Toothless demolished the small pile of fish he had been given. He seemed content enough and that was good enough for Hiccup to put his mind at ease.
To think against all odd, the two of them had landed in a completely foreign place, only to find one another, and in such a short time. It seemed such an impossible feat, that it could occur but the fact Hiccup sat beside his friend was proof enough. With a small sigh Hiccup gazed towards the fire.. what was he going to do? They had no saddle..no idea where they were, and barely enough food to keep them going. The next few days that would follow would certainly prove difficult for the both of them, but if it meant getting off of this island it was worth it.
As he sat there listening to Toothless down the rest of his food, Hiccup begun thinking. He missed home already, his father stern voice.. he even missed Tuffnut and Ruffnut of all people. They had to get home somehow and they had to get home soon. Hiccup was if anything, growing concerned for his father's well being. He would imagine Gobber would keep his father busy, but for how long? With a sigh, this time of hopelessness. Hiccup examined his fish, just a bit longer. He could feel his stomach protesting and the saliva building in anticipation.
"We will find our way back bud, Just wait.. we'll make a new saddle and get out of this place." he stated as he gazed towards the fire. He felt his eyes growing heavy as his body begun to warm up. Despite their surroundings, he felt content he had a dragon with him after all. Yawning lightly Hiccup withdrew his fish from the fire, cooked just the way he liked it he allowed it a moment to call down, blowing on it slowly before he was eventually able to eat it. With nothing but the bones left, Hiccup slid down off the rock and rested back against it.
With a long stretch he looked up to the sky again, half expecting to see the others fly past but that was wishful thinking. Glancing to his friends tail, he noted that, that too also needed some repair work. Every time Hiccup looked to it, he could not shake the guilt off his shoulders. He had done that.. he had disabled him. He wondered though what would of happened, had Toothless of been able to fly without him. Would they of gone their separate ways? The thought now of anything happening to his friend was not something Hiccup wished to think about.
"Well bud.. it's just you and me for now.. try and get some sleep, we got a long day tomorrow." he sighed, before he slowly lay down on the ground with his back against the rock. The fire's warmth was a welcoming change, and with the gentle lull of crackling wood and debris Hiccup's eyes grew heavy before he finally drifted off into a semi-peaceful sleep.

A comfortable almost silence fell over the two then, each lost in their own thoughts. The dragon had only been worried about finding out if Hiccup had been safe mostly, and now that he knew his friend was safe and here beside him, the dragon started to wonder about other things. Such as how lucky it was that two of them seemed to be able to find each other, and how unlucky it was that the two of them were here in the first place. The dragon idly rested his head on his paws, slightly darkened eyes gazing out towards the line of trees before him. He still had no idea how he had even gotten here.
It was when Hiccup spoke that the dragon realized the boy still had more to loose. He had his father and his friends that were all left behind. The dragon turned to his rider and best friend, prepared to comfort him, however, it seemed his friend had already finished his meal and was preparing to head off to sleep. The Night Fury decided to stay silent then, resting his head back on his paws and waiting.
For a long while the dragon waited, until his friends breathing slowed and evened out and the fire burned down to just a dull orange glow in the darkness. Toothless silently got to his feet then, and as carefully as he could he snuck around to the other side of the rock. There he settled down next to Hiccup again, close enough so that the boy was against the warm scales of his side, but careful not to jostle the other too much. He stretched out his wing, resting it against the rock and enveloping the other protectively.
Only then did Toothless lower his head to his paws again and take up Hiccup's advice; falling into a light slumber.
