Searching For a Way{Melody}

It has been almost four months now since the first day Jake arrived in Aledon. Already he lost hope in just about everything. But, the hope was replaced by determination to get back to his own world. The sixteen year old now studied this world’s magic, trying to find a way back to his family. Sure, he did not understand most of it, but he wouldn’t give up just yet. For the past month or so, the kid would barley show his face in town anymore. Occasionally he would pop in for supply and such. It didn’t feel right being in town. He did not belong there and the bullies made sure he knew that. Plus, there was that factor that he didn’t want anyone to know what he was doing. There was someone watching him. Jake could feel it, so it was best that he was in a place with few people. He had no idea who this person was or what they wanted. So he decided when that person showed himself, he would fight back as hard as he could.

Jake was lying on the ground under a tree, using his bag as a pillow. He was reading teaching himself on this world’s magic. Now the only problem was how was he going to control it? He could not handle his own. How could he ever master Aledon’s? For now, he didn’t want to worry about that. He needed to find a way home. The sixteen year old sighed and put the book beside him. He did not understand half the thing they were talking about. Maybe he should just give up and live a normal life here. He could find someone that would be able to put up with him. He needed a new reason to live. He still wanted to become a knight, but no one was willing to be the kid’s master. Nothing went right for him in this world which is the reason he gave up in the first place.

Before he knew, Jake was drifting in and out of consciousness within a few minutes he was fast asleep. He knew this was not the best place to take a nap. There was monster up and about. However, he could not stop himself. After all, when the kid was sleeping he was able to see his family once again even if it was a dream.

Getting out of her house was easy. As long as her mother wasn't there. luckily she hadn't so Melody was leaving Aledon for it's mountains. Normally she'd flock to the ocean for a swim but something pulled her toward the mountains. It was a fairly nice day and she wouldn't let it go to waist. The mountains were a nice place scattered with foliage and you would sometimes see the occasional animal. Which made it a nice place to record data in her journal.

Melody came to a tree where a familiar face laid sleeping his head rested on a bag. She'd bumped into him before, literally. His name started with a J. Was it Justin or Jake? She couldn't quite remember. She was pretty sure it was Jake so he slept and she leaned down and shook his shoulder. "Jake? Jake?" What was he thinking sleeping in the open. Animals weren't the only thing that resided here there were all sorts of crazy monsters.

She waited for Jake to stir or groan or something that signaled he was starting to wake up. So she sat down about five feet away and took out her journal adding facts into one of the entries in her journal. Jake had been reading something but, Melody knew it wasn't polite to snoop so she kept writing. She could always ask him when he woke up.

The sixteen year old continued to sleep. He has spent most of his time lately studying Aledon’s magic. He didn’t really take care of himself. It had of been at least a day or two since the last time he actually ate anything. Plus, his sleeping schedule was totally off. He would only sleep a few hours a night. After all, he did spend his nights in the forest with a number a number of monsters trying to kill him for food. Which is the reason to why he was sleeping in such a place. He could hear someone shaking and calling him. “Leave me alone…” Jake let out a small groan, turning his body to one side hugging his bag. It didn’t seem like he was going to wake up anytime soon. He needed the sleep more than anything. It didn’t matter whether or not he was in danger. His powers would wake him if someone attacked. Besides, he did not want to wake. The kid was in the middle of a somewhat happy dream. He was back home in his family’s loving arms once again.

Jake wanted to be with them more than anything. The dream was actually a painfully one. Despite the fact he wanted to be home once again. Seeing his family was hard when fully knowing that when he woke there would be nothing.
