Stand a little taller

Height: 5'7''
Weight: 120 lbs
Hair color: Blonde
Eye color: Blue
General Appearance: While the image is taken from her 14 year old self, her current look at 18 is a bit more stylish yet with an edge as most might assume of her. She carries her hair in a sideways french braid that scales down her right shoulder and might even give it the messy look on occasion not that she puts much attention to it. She still wears a lot of the more "feminine" viking attire that includes spiked skirt, furry boots and as of late more protective pads over her shoulders and forearms which are used more when flying her dragon. Even though she might look fierce, she's grown far more confident of herself, not that she wasn't already which makes her an even more hard-headed teenager. Meaning that even if she were to rub off as the tomboy from next door, she won't be ashamed of it and will make a big stink if you bring it up. She doesn't carry any remarkable weapon other than anything small and compact enough to carry within a few pockets in the case of emergencies.
You didn't think that I'd come back
I'd come back swinging
You tried to break me, but you see
Strengths: brave, righteous, considerate, warm (deep down), strong-willed
Weaknesses: stubborn, hard-headed, pushy, intimidating, fierce
Fears: Losing her dragon, losing any loved one (family or friend), seeing dragons caged up
General Personality:
Astrid is a very interesting character who blooms in the sight of danger. She's great at the fight not flight response, so she'd very much the confrontational type. Even bordering the lines of pushiness that might make her appear intimidating at first. Only those that see a shred of warmth in her more subtle gestures, from being friendly and considerate would bother to notice she even possesses' such a side. When she's not in the mist of danger, she can seem distant but contrary to appearance she's simply observant. Catching the smallest subtleties around her, which in part may be just natural feminine instinct but its a point to note.
On top of it all, her friends might know her to be a rather physical jokester. By that I mean, she'll mess around with boys by jabbing their shoulders, playing the rough and tumble sort like the guys which she's been used to doing most of her life and if viking culture were anything to go by then you'll see its to be expected. She'll know when things have gone serious, or when someone isn't necessarily in a "joking" mood, but otherwise, most (that are her friends) just have adapted and tolerated her much more touchy means of playing around.
Its not often people might see her vulnerable side, not even her parents or friends might be able to recall the last time they say her shed a tear. That's not on purpose, she's just a tough shell, and she's learned that to show vulnerability is to show weakness in anyone's eyes. While there might be the rare few who know she's capable of displaying said emotion, it really must be an extreme she can't control, or at least an event out of her control.
Along with her slight case of intimidation, she could be categorized for showing signs of pretentiousness. It might just be due to her age and hormonal imbalances but the fact that she knows boys have a far easier reaction toward her in one way or another has made her often play hard to get. Not that she's had much experience in this arena, aside from a few kisses here and there with Hiccup, she's been pretty good about keeping to herself, she just lights up at the sight of what effect she gives off to others. Sometimes, even more so if its affecting Hiccup more than the rest.
Bet you think that everything good is gone
Think you left me broken down
Think that I'd come running back

History:
Born and raised a viking, from a tender age Astrid had only ever known that Dragons were meant to die. Irrespective of why, even though adults would complain and claim they simply stole their food and terrorized their town, she was constantly awarded after any behaviors that dealt with mutilation or ultimate death to these mythical creatures. It was due to this sole goal that she went on to develop a series of skills not typically learned by little girls, such as sword fighting, hand to hand combat, self defense along with learning some of the most creative weapons known to man. Of course it was all a gradual process, and made her talents known rather quickly when she had her first opportunity to help take down a dragon with her father.
That though didn't last too long, until Hiccup came into the picture more, being the Viking King's son. She thought of him as a joke, not a real viking by any standard and much less to uphold such a rich and well founded world as the one his father had led for years. His father's stories of dragon lore were like tales from a book, but his son just didn't seem to come even close in her eyes. Over the course of a few weeks she started to notice his strange behavior only get weirder. In dragon combat training, while she excelled in every set, he was pursuing behaviors not typical in training. Behaviors that were starting to get more attention by their peers and even their instructor, but more importantly that were showing off against her own skill. Something she had developed over years and deserved merit and recognition was practically being tossed aside after his little tricks. So it was to her own curiosity that she went after him one afternoon to see what this mystery was about. After lucking out the first few tries, she had managed to spot it, just behind a rock she overlooked Hiccup with a dragon and all sense went out the window. Her first instinct was to kill the vermin but it was to her own surprise that Hiccup had protected it from her, confused and all to willing to spill the news to the others he had begged her to listen. It had taken every ounce of persuasion from Hiccup's end to finally get her to even consider and after a rather eventful afternoon with both he and Toothless, she had to admit that everything they had known about dragons was untrue.
From that day on, she had vowed to take Hiccup's side, willing to believe in his newbound mission to protect the dragons and tell the rest that they were really no threat. It was also at that time, 4 years ago that she had started to develop actual feelings for him. Nothing really happened, but after one eventful moment when she had believed Hiccup to have died, things had changed altogether. Ever since then she helped Hiccup develop more of a training academy to help train dragons or at least learn from them. While she still has shown interest, nothing much had developed between them aside from kisses on special occasions, it appears they are still taking the rather awkward and shy route to their relationship but otherwise she's grown up to be a rather interesting but stubborn teenager.

Roleplay Sample:
She'd awoken startled from a random dream to the sloppy lick of her dragon Stormfly. "heyy stop it!" she teased patting her nose away as she sat up and moved toward the ledge of the bed. It was early, barely noticing the sun rise as a swift breeze ran through her window to make her chill for a moment, Stormfly took it as a hint for them to get up and going. Unsure as to why, she simply listened and got herself ready before calming Stormfly down a bit and stepping out to the quiet town around them. "Alright... whatever it is, we're going, relax" she mused running after her as they approached a nearby cliff before prompted herself over her back.
Within a few moments they had taken off and without a hitch soaring through the air like it was the most graceful display of nature in the sky. Even that early in the morning, Astrid had to smile and laugh at how good it felt, her braid in a mess as it bounced against her back, hands outstretched as if it could feel the clouds between her fingers. In just a few moments they had swept through the sky and gone a distance over to the largest cliff on an island. The sun was still just "waking up" and it seemed Stomfly had grown to known Astrid fairly well because she had bothered her to wake up only to accompany her to see the sunrise together. The sight was beautiful and Astrid couldn't help brighten her smile, had she been in a roomful of people or even her own peers she'd never show such a display of awe but with Stormfly she felt carefree.
"It's beautiful.... " she gaped in still admiration as Stormfly made gleeful noises in return. They had stayed atop that cliff for a good portion of that morning together, not caring she had chores to do when she got back, that was just the perfect way to start a day.
