Vera, the Adventurer

It seems like yesterday, but it was long ago
Name: The Adventurer (This is the name she gave to herself because of her curious and adventurous nature. Her true name is only known to her family and her.)
Nicknames: Vera
Age: 931 years
Member Group: Knight
Fandom: Doctor Who, OC
And the secrets that we shared, the mountains that we moved
Height: 1.72 m
Weight: 65 kg
Hair color: reddish brown
Eye color: grey-green
General Appearance: Vera has reddish brown hair, that reaches almost down to the middle of her back. During her time travels she often matches the style of her hair to the period of time she is visiting. She also matches her clothing to the current time period, but when she is inside her TARDIS she likes to wear a dress that is similar to an amazon's clothing. On special occasions she also loves to wear fancy dresses. Only when she is exploring a cave or a strange dungeon she changes to trousers, simple t-shirts and a leather coat. Her body is slender but well trained.
The years rolled slowly past and I found myself alone
Strengths: curious, fast, smart, friendly
Weaknesses: sometimes a bit too curious, her brothers, isn't able to look away when other people are in danger
Fears: loosing her family or Carolyn, getting into a situation where she isn't able to defend herself, meeting the daleks or cyberman, loosing her TARDIS
General Personality: Since Vera was able to walk, she was always very curious and attentive. She wanted to discover everything and to learn as much as possible as fast as she could. When she was eight years old and send to the timelord academy she had to look into the untempered schism. Staring into it she saw infinite possibilities and adventures and ever since she became even more curious and interested in everything that was hidden in the depth of the universe.
Because she often took care for her younger brothers she is very caring and doesn't like to see somebody suffering. Although she doesn't like renegade timelords, she doesn't shy away from bending the rules if she is able to help someone by doing so. She thinks that this doesn't make her a renegade. She also doesn't like to hurt someone. Therefore she has a cordial dislike for weapons and always tries to find a way that doesn't include other people getting hurt. But if there is no other option she likes to use hand-to-hand fighting. She perceives the use of pistols and similar things as unfair. When she made sure that Carolyn and the Curious were able to retreat to her TARDIS she is also willing to retreat there.
She is very caring to her TARDIS and takes care that it won't be damaged during her travels. Depending on the situation she would rather let herself be killed instead of endangering her time machine. Anyway she is able to regenerate for a certain number of times, something that her time machine is not able to do.
Since her mother is no timelady, she returns to Galifrey from time to time to meet her.
There were oh so many roads, moving eight miles a minute for months at a time
Family: Her father was the silent captain, a Timelord, who died when the Adventurer was 579 years old. Her mother, Ariana, is still alive, at least in the Adventurer's timeline. She also has two younger brothers. One of them became insane, when he was forced to look into the untempered schism at the timelord academy. Her other brother, the Curious, travelled with her for a while until he decided that he wanted to travel on his own.
History: Vera was born 933 years before the last great time war. Her father was a timelord and only a few years after Vera's and her brothers' births her father began travelling again. Her mother stayed on Galifrey until now. When Vera was eight years old she was send to the timelord academy and was forced to look into the untempered schism. The sight of the timevortex inspired her so much that she became a very good student. Only when her youngest brother was send to the timelord academy, too and was turned insane by the untempered schism she did not learn as eager as she had done before. But this only lasted a short time, then her other brother and she began to work very close together and both her brother's and hers achievements improved again.
After nearly one hundred years of learning she graduated from the timelord academy and was assigned to a TARDIS type 74. Astonished by her own time travelling capsule she made her first voyage together with a few other graduate timelords. Only a few years later, when her sane brother graduated from academy they began travelling together.
Alongside him she faced her first regeneration. The Curious and Vera were just exploring a mysterious tomb on Abraxis II, when a poisonous gas was released into the air by a hidden trap. Almost immediately the Adventurer felt a piercing pain in her lung. While her brother and she were trying to escape their breathing became harder and harder until both suffocated. Holding hands they regenerated and escaped the tomb together. Only when they had reached the Adventurer's TARDIS they noticed that they had regenerated as twins with Vera having changed her gender. At first they laughed about it, but then this strange similarity began weighing down on their relationship. They began arguing ever more things until they decided to separate. The Curious went back to Galifrey and Vera travelled alone with her TARDIS as only companion.
Nearly two hundred years later Vera had her first encounter with the Daleks. If it wasn't for her ability to regenerate this first encounter would have been her last. Wounded badly she was able to escape to her TARDIS and set it onto a course back home. While her TARDIS was on her way to Galifrey she regenerated into a woman again and awoke in her mother's arms. Of course she had heard about the Daleks before, but she had never thought, that they would be so strange and dangerous. Traumatized Vera stayed on Galifrey for a few years, but then her curious nature took the upper hand again and she left once more.
One of her next journeys took her to earth in the Victorian age. Curious she strolled through the streets of Victorian London and searched for the next adventure. But she had not expected that her next adventure would be so different from all the others she already had. When she was travelling the forests in the outskirts of London she heard a baby crying. Startled she began to search for the little one and found it hidden beneath a bush. Not knowing what to do she waited for a while close to the child with her TARDIS disguised as a tree nearby. When nobody came back for the child she finally brought the little girl inside her time machine and looked after her. She was aware that she was breaking the rules at this moment, but she didn't care. This child's life was more worth than every rule she had been taught at the academy. She called the child Carolyn and raised her as her own, hidden from the other timelords. The wonders of the time machine were enough that the child never wondered what was hidden on the outside, but when she was ten years old Vera decided that Carolyn should have the life of a normal human. She brought her back to her time and arranged foster parents for her. With pain in her heart she left the girl behind and continued her journey with Terry, as Carolyne had called her TARDIS.
The next hundreds of years Vera spent alone again, until she wasn't able to stand the loneliness anymore. She returned to Carolyn, who was a grown up woman in the middle of her thirties by now, and asked her if she was willing to travel with her. At first Carolyn was very sceptical and angry that she had left her alone. But after a while she was able to convince her and they continued their journey. One year after this event they spent a while in the cloud caves of Cidacia until the release of a bacterium formerly unknown to this world turned the clouds into malevolent beasts. Suddenly the cave all around them started to collapse and they were hunted by red cloud beasts. Using her sonic pen Vera was able to keep the cloud beasts away from them. True to the non-interference policy of her people they left the planet, but the bacterium came with them. Both Carolyn and Vera were infected. Fearing that everyone she asked for help might become infected too, they stayed inside Terry and tried to find a solution themselves. The infection nearly killed Carolyne until the Adventurer found a cure for her. But finding a cure for Vera's timelord physiology was not as easy. Eventually Vera's immune system fought the bacterium partly. But the tiny piece that stayed behind made her chronically ill. Fearing that the bacterium might still be infectious she stayed inside her TARDIS until her infection became so serious that she had to regenerate.
After this regeneration she looked as she does now and she continued her adventures until her journey led her to Aldeon.

Something was strange. Vera had had several strange flights with her TARDIS before, but this one was different. Terry had accepted the coordinates she had given to her without making any problems, but in the middle of their way through the time vortex things began to explode in the control room. Now Carolyne and Vera were holding onto the control console and hoped that their travel would end soon. But still sparks flew over their heads, until suddenly everything stopped and the lights inside the control room turned dark. Only the cloaking device seemed to work, since the entrance door had changed into something that looked like the entrance to a tent. A medieval tent if Vera remembered it right.
"Stay here.", she said to Carolyne and went to the entrance. Brushing the tent's flap away she stepped out onto a vast field with several more tents on it. This was certainly a medieval training ground. "Now that's a nice surprise.", she said to herself, smiling slightly. Maybe there would be a tournament soon. Already looking forward to some new adventures, she turned back to her TARDIS.
It was time to tell Carolyne that it seemed save for now and that they had to change into suitable clothing. She still had no clue why Terry had brought them here, but she was sure, that it had done so for a certain purpose and now it was their task to find out what this purpose was. Still smiling she wanted to brush the tent's flap away and get into her TARDIS again, but strangely the opening was locked now.
"Carolyne, can you hear me? Open the door please.", she called to her friend, but she wasn't answering. Instead a noise she knew too well filled the air. Her TARDIS was jumping into the time vortex again. "Terry, stop!", she demanded from her time machine, but of course she wasn't listening. In this stage of the transport the TARDIS wasn't able to stop anyway.
"Great.", she cursed under her breath, when the tent had completely vanished. Now she was standing alone in the middle of a training field clothed in a red dress that was suitable for the 21st century on earth but certainly not for a medieval age. Suddenly she felt trapped and lost and hoped that her TARDIS would return soon. Until then she was only able to wait and hope that she didn't attract too much attention.
