Flanna was careful. It had been two months since she'd been saved from nearly certain death, and she was finally feeling like a whole woman again. She had been bedridden for two long, and although her muscles were still a bit weak from non-use, it was nice to simply be free of the confines of her bedroom. Kili was gone today, and Talar was being currently left in the capable care of Leona and Thorin Oakenshield, who would certainly take good care of him. In fact, Flanna and Leona were healing well, and Flanna could now take some work around her home and some gentle labor with her son. So she figured that it would now be safe to go outside the house. To get some fresh air. To see the world again. To be unafraid of what was around her.
That didn't mean, of course, that she was going unprotected. Flanna knew that, although she may have been nonviolent, she did need to watch out for herself, because she was not too keen on being killed the second time around, should it happen again. There was now a dagger strapped around her thigh, just in case. But she was leaving anyhow, and she was going to pleasantly surprise her husband. Carefully, as she adjusted her skirts, Flanna spurred on the small mare that she'd so delicately mounted. She would go only at a walk for the time being, because she had plenty of time and she also had some very exciting news for her lover. There was a rose on her lap as she went, and a smile on her face.
She sat up, knowing that she probably wasn't as delicate as she still felt. She was healed. The doctors had even said so. And she wanted so much to do the things she'd once done without giving them even a second thought. She had taken some things for granted, but clearly, there was a time to change. She approached the city soon, as her thoughts began to clear. She knew he was here, and she wanted so dearly to find him, for him to whisk her away once she explained what it was she'd found out this morning.
She dismounted at the gates and wandered about the town, holding the rose at her side and leaving her mare to drink. She wandered about for a bit, asking here and there for the whereabouts of the one she loved the best. And finally, she found him. She could see him from where she was but he could not see her, and she sat gingerly on the side of the courtyard's fountain, holding her rose and smiling because her husband was near her and he was gorgeous. When finally he caught her eye, she smiled to him and mouthed, "Come here, love."

Kili had needed a bit of space, time away from the world, time to himself. he had been so wrought with worry, so sick with dread, that he had not stopped to take the time to truly think. How long had he and Flanna been together? A year? Perhaps a touch more? It stunned the warrior how easily she had slid into his life, and how fast she had solidified herself in it. It was utterly amazing and absolutely stunning. He loved her... but she had almost gotten killed, that wretched demon had almost ripped him from her, and that had damn near killed him. Kili could take a great many things. Wounds, immeasurable odds... but he could not take her death. He couldn't. A piece of him wanted, never again to leave her side, to rearrange his sleeping habits to match her own, to drag her with him no matter where he went, but the practical, dominant side of himself knew how important it was for her, to have her own identity, himself included. They would get nowhere, and conflict would arise if he remained glued to her hip. he had to give her the space she so rightfully deserved, just as she had done for him.
His travels had brought her to the luscious, gorgeous fountain carved in the middle of the street. His blushing bride was safe for now, Thorin and Leona remained in their home. He knew Thorin would guard either of his family with his life and he had a strange inkling Leona would too. She didn't seem to be the kind of woman to watch her husband fling himself into battle. Granted she seemed far more soft and delicate than a dwarven woman, but she seemed capable of fending for herself... and Flanna and her had seemed to develop this bizarre bond between them. An unspoken respect, it made Kili smile to see his family grow and prosper. He sighed sword clinking against the stones as he perched himself upon the rim of the fountain.
He would rest for a few moments longer before rising, doing a double take at the sight of his wife. Surprise, excitement, and slight concern stole across his handsome features, but he obeyed her. he dared anyone to say no to those gorgeous eyes. he reached her, dropping beside her and kissed her soundly, resting his forehead against her own, the rest of the populace be damned. "What is wrong beloved... please do not say orcs." He assumed the worst, the last few weeks had been taxing on the male.

If there was one thing that Flanna could no more live without, that she now understood the importance of, it was love. Kili. The life they now shared. For so long, Flanna had believed that she could survive on her own, that she would be absolutely fine without anyone else in her life, but now she knew that was not true. Over the past year, as she'd come to know, love, and positively adore this man, Kili had become a central pillar of her life. She'd been miserable before, but had simply disallowed herself from seeing it. She'd been but a lonely writer with a name and a family that she hardly understood having. Now, she had a family. A man who would sacrifice himself for her. A son that she adored. And... another surprise for him.
She was glad to finally be outside of their home. The air was warm but not hot, and there was a gentle breeze that blew nicely through the town, even across the stones all about it. While Flanna was still trying to be careful with herself, she was whole again and not likely to break as easily as she felt she might. It was probably just that she'd spent so long laying down with naught to do but stare at the ceiling and read when the time was good. But that time was over now. A couple mornings ago, she'd been examined one last time by Doctor Whale and some other physicians, and been given the clear to do as she pleased. So for the past couple of days, she had been doing light housework, and taking a little more care of her son, who had grown already too much for her liking. And now, she was certain of one thing: she wanted her husband more than ever she had, and she had something very, very special to tell him.
The look on his face when he saw her was impossible not to giggle at. She grinned as he came toward her, and as he sat beside her. Oh, what a handsome creature he was! As he kissed her, her lips having so long ached for his, she pulled him to her, careless of the people around them. What were they to the rest of the world? Young lovers, no more.
As their foreheads rested one upon the other, a sweet smile came to her face at his concern. What a man she had. "Nothing's wrong, my love," she said gently, pulling from him and putting the rose softly in his lap. She looked him in the eye, and, putting her hand gently on his, began to deliver her news. Never was she one for a lot of words, but this time she was too excited. "This morning, on of the physicians came by again, just to check a couple of things, and something new has been confirmed. It seems that I am not the only one who survived that great orc's torture.... Kili, we have another on the way." She smiled at him, kissed him...

Kili's life had been completely altered with the move to Aledon and still in the back of his mind, he could not decide if he deemed as such a curse or a blessing. On one hand he had been given the most gorgeous of females, to love to cherish to hold, to protect. His wife, the missing piece to his soul... and as luck would have it, she had granted him a son, Talar, an adorable, beautiful, bouncing baby boy and he could not be more pleased... but that side of his life was only half, the other still yearned for Fili, for his brothers, for his home. It had ripped Thorin away from his life's mission of Erebor, but then again had granted him Leona, and while the quiet woman had yet to earn his full trust, the quiet and subtle adoration that lingered in the back of Thorin's gaze made him want to embrace her. No one had ever pulled such a look from his uncle. perhaps this world was both a savior and a damnation.
Unbeknownst to Flanna, and Ruby's own fiancé, Kili had enlisted the help of the rather headstrong bartender and a few nights prior he had vanished with her while she tracked the scent of the orcs. He hadn't felt the need to take Thorin, Ruby was a werewolf and a rather large one at that, he felt rather foolish for not enlisting her help when Flanna and Leona had been kidnapped... but that hadn't been her fight. She confirmed that if there had been survivors they had long since vanished and with a contented sigh, he allowed her leave to return to her mansion. He felt reassured and has shared the knowledge with Thorin come morning, privately of course, lest either woman worry.
He smiled into her mouth as she kissed him back with the same passion he so oft felt for her. He could still remember the days when she would blush at his mere arm within the crook of her own and now look at her! He chuckled as he broke from her mouth a mischievous grin painted upon his face. "It seems your inhibitions of public displays are leaving your gorgeous. I'll make a dwarf of you yet! Now if we can just have a bit of fun in a meadow somewhere off in the forest..." Kili chuckled against her, bracing himself for the smack that was sure to follow.
Stunned silence would follow her admission, utter shock registering in the depths of his obsidian orbs. He had been fighting for not only she and Leona but a babe as well? With a shout of exuberance she was scooped up and spun around, laughter dancing from Kili's lips, finally he set her down and kissed her soundly. "Im going to be a father again? Flanna! We must celebrate! Come!" Not that he gave her much of a choice, he carried his lovely bride down the street, mind swirling with plans.

Flanna vowed she'd never miss that hell of a place she'd left to end up here. Her home had been a place full of lies and bad excuses, deceit and heartbreak filling one to the brim. Peace was nonexistent around her home, and to find it Flanna had oft ventured out into the more serene arms of Mother Nature to find some comfort. She was at the mercy of the weather and the animals sometimes, and those had been the best days of her childhood. Not even all the riches that her father brought home could have compared, because they were but symbols of his ruin. But now--oh, now! She had a family. A home. A husband that would give all for her safety and who loved her; furthermore a handsome man who was finely crafted and molded perfectly for her. A son that she adored more than life itself. And now, another on the way. This changed little, she supposed, other than that there would be a new mouth to feed. But they would manage.
Kili was smart and so was she, and money had been nary an issue. The real problem for Flanna, once she worked hard to look through the fact that she was going to birth another beautiful baby, was that she did not want to be pregnant for most of her life. It was apparent that they were fertile. Too much so. She could not stand having these symptoms nine months out of every year, it was simply asking too much. But she'd do just about anything for Kili.
His kiss, as usual, was paradise, and she could get lost in his eyes, his face, his... everything. He was gorgeous. Did he know just how perfect she thought he was? How she worshiped him? When he pulled away, her lips had pursed into a smile at the look on his face, always so mischievous. Heaven help her... their children would have those traits too. She laughed, and squeezed his arm, though he looked ready to take a punch. "Only in your dreams, m'love. Though... I might like your dreams." She giggled and pecked him one more time on the lips, just for good measure.
And oh! was he ecstatic at the news! She knew he would be, and she knew that it would be a bit before she and he could discuss the problem of their hyper-fertility. But no matter now. Now the focus was on this new baby, this wonderful new gift. She had no choice when he announced his intentions and swept her into his arms, and so she grabbed his shoulders as he went. "Kili," she grinned, "I'm not broken now. We can celebrate as you... we... please." She laughed and then said innocently, "It's bigger this time, the babe. I hope it's a girl so that it can teach Talar some manners." And soon, they were gone from the town, and onto better things. Home.

Dwarves were notorious for big families, he wondered how many times Flanna's belly would swell with his child, he wondered if he would ever tire of such a sight, of such a precious gift? Somehow he doubted it. The pride, excitement, the lust, the love... it swirled through his chest each and every time she reminded him that she was with his child. Words could not express the utter delight he felt. He wondered if soon Leona would not grace him with nieces and nephews. Knowing Thorin and his possessive streak, it had taken him long to reclaim his wife. He grinned at such a thought, perhaps it was time he do the same to his bride. She could use a bit of smiting. he chuckled slightly at such a notion, he had missed her, horribly, and only now realized how much. At the time he had been so consumed with her recovery that he hadn't given much thought to taking her body. He loved her happy, healthy, and whole. While he loved her body, yes, he loved a great deal more than that.
They would need to work out a way to prevent her pregnancy, Kili would never complain about another son or daughter, but he realized that Flanna needed the break, she needed the rest, perhaps he could coin Ruby into fetching Doctor Whale for them again, he seemed to be a man far beyond his time when it came to the realm of medicine, if anyone could find a cure, it would be him. He would need to talk with Flanna about it later...much, much later.
He snorted at her words, chuckling animatedly to himself. His wife was perhaps a touch too delicate to have him against the wall or in the view of public eye, he didn't mind, he wouldn't push her. Flanna was his, she always would be, and that's all he would ever need, that didn't stop him, however, from teasing the woman in his arms mercilessly. "Ah that's not the tune you sung upon the picnic blanket when first you declared you wanted me." She had been so terribly shy then. " And that was in broad daylight darlin'."
"If it's a girl I will be fine tuning my skills as a bowman. Assassinations of would be suitors will become a past time if she looks anything like you." Came the chuckle of his response. "As for celebrating... what exactly did you have in mind my wicked wife?" Their home came into his view, he would give her whatever she wanted, whatever she needed. She was the one finally recovered and he was not but her slave.

Flanna was glad to have recovered. So far, she seemed to be whole again, and that was sure a good thing, because she'd been bedridden in the wrong manner for too long, and she yearned for Kili, yearned to feel his touch and taste his promise. She loved him and that was all there was to it. Now, she was herself once more, and blessed with the gift of another child, another that she hoped would have the gorgeous traits of her husband but her mild temper. She was excited, once more, and a bit worried, but with Kili at her side, Flanna could do anything, she was sure.
It had certainly been the right choice to go out after him today. She already felt stronger just from being in the open air, and more confident because her love, her partner, was with her. He was absolutely everything to her, and he was the reason she was so eager to be back on her feet and ready to go on with her everyday life. She'd written a little while she was in bed, but not enough to mean much. She needed to finish that, too, so that she would have some more income. They'd probably spent a good deal of gold while she'd been broken on healing her, and she knew that the more she wrote, the more she could sell. Money would be particularly important when there were two children to care for.... What would this one be? Girl or boy? She could not wait to find out.
Kili cradled her against him and she leaned in to feel his hold. He was so strong, he was, and she felt so safe in his arms. She smiled up at him, giggling because he was forever teasing her. But she loved it as she loved him, and her lips parted in a smooth laugh as she answered him, "Broad daylight does sound lovely..." she mused, looking away and up at the sky. Her eyes rolled back to him to catch him with her grin. She knew they were going home, but she did love to tease him back.
"And anyway, I want you always." She leaned her neck in to give him a quick kiss. "You flatter me, and you're much too protective," she answered gently, caressing his shoulder as she could and sighing in bliss. She was glad to have him back. As they neared the house, she laughed again, taunting him a bit. "Take me in and I'll tell you." This seemed to quicken his pace and it was not long until she somehow ended up back on her own bed, but this time with the man she loved above all of them. "I think... I think you have an idea of what I would like as a celebration." She laughed and kissed him.

Kili was glad to see his wife in such high spirits, especially after receiving such exciting news! They would be bringing a second life to his family and, perhaps, if Thorin played his cards right, his family would grow alongside Thorin's. All thoughts of his respected leader fled his mind as he caught sight of his wife's loving smile and adoration filled eyes. How long had it been since he had last seen her so exuberant? She had been so sick, so broken for so long, he had felt the loss not only of her body, but of her love, of her laughter, if her light. If she had died back in the grasp of that demon... his son would have grown beneath Flanna and Thorin. There was no life for him in a world that she was not in.
He did not allow such darkness to cloud his visage, he returned his wife's grin with a cocky tilt of his own lips and hoisted her high over his shoulder just to hear her laugh. Did she realize how warm that simple sound made him? Did she understand what she did to him? For him? Sometimes he wondered if she realized how important she truly was to him. Money was no issue for Kili, he had been working detail for the Queen and King for quite some time, his impressive skills with a bow had earned him a place amongst the royal guard... perhaps later he would speak of such things to Flanna, right now, he celebrated her life... not his own minor accomplishments.
"You teas me love, with promises of outdoor excursions." His dark eyes alight with laughter would fall upon her as he pushed open the door to their humble home. He could not yet decide if she was attempting to scold him or trying to seduce him, he imagined a bit of both, he reached their bedroom and paused, his gaze drifting to her flattened stomach. The new life they had created grew strong and steady there, but it was still much to early on in the pregnancy to be fragile yet... and with that thought a wicked grin crossed his face, tugging at the corners of his mouth.
"Too protective am I? Well then." He pretended to drop her, squatting down to the floor as she made a short free fall before catching her once more, using the momentum as he pushed up from his knees, he carelessly tossed her onto the bed, watching her bounce before tackling his laughing bride, pining her to the mattress before proceeding to kiss the hell out of her.
