General Appearance: John's on the short side of things, and a bit pudgy. He has grey eyes, maintains a crew cut and has dark brown hair with streaks of grey. He tans easily but only away from the perpetually cloudy London. His only blemish is a scar on his right shoulder, left behind by a bullet. He can usually be found in sweaters - some that other people may find ugly - however, he's not opposed to dressing up.

General Personality: Loyal, brave, and occasionally sarcastic, John is a great friend though few people take notice. He likes feeling useful, and helping people. When he doesn't think he can help, or is incapable of helping, he gets angry with himself. He needs to have a purpose in life, or else tends to withdraw into himself and become seemingly depressed.
He's generally good about taking orders, depending on who they're from, and is a hard worker. He's quite smart, though that's sometimes overlooked when he's with Sherlock. He has a sense of adventure; a longing for excitement and danger that's gotten him into trouble.
As far as relationships go, he's been rather unlucky. He rarely sees or speaks with his sister, his last remaining relative. He lost touch with all his friends when he joined the Army. His relationship with the person he calls his best friend is rather rocky at times. John actively hunts for a romantic partner. Sadly, none of the many girlfriends he's had in the past few years have lasted very long
