Black ears twitched at the sound tweeting birds in the canopy. The sun had yet to shake some of the cold out of the air, but it was promising to be a warm and pleasant day as it shined down on the ground below. The clearing was quiet except for the relaxing sound of the stream and the birds. Toothless opened his eyes blearily, lifting his head with a wide and toothless yawn. For a moment the dragon just licked his lips and looked as if he was about to lie his head back down and go back to sleep, however, instead he turned his gaze to his wings and lifted it slightly to check underneath; where his rider and best friend was sleeping soundly.
The dragon searched him once, eyes lingering on the prosthetic, before he gently started to lift himself off the ground. His wing was a little cramped from being held up by the rock all night, but at least his friend was warm and, most importantly, safe.
Toothless stood up, taking a couple steps foreword so he could shake himself. He laid his front paws on the damp ground and stretched out his back, and then spread his wings and flapped them one or twice to try and stretch them out too. Having no saddle, there would be no morning flight for him and Hiccup, which was usually the only time the two of them could do so. Toothless could feel the draw of the sky, his wings tingling as though electrified, and feeling almost restless. The dragon folded his wings back up once the flapping eased some of that desire.
His gaze returned to the sleeping Hiccup, and suddenly the dragon was reminded of the tiny meal that the two of them had shared. Toothless furrowed his brows a little in worry. A dragon could go for a long time without food, Berk was harsh enough for them to have to devlop such an adaptation. That didn't mean dragons wanted to do so, of course, but that was besides the point. Toothless could have gone much longer without something to eat than the scrawny Hiccup could have. He didn't feel guilty, because Hiccup had given him his share, but Toothless did feel like he should repay his rider, especially since he hadn't even offered to share like he usually did.
Toothless turned, wandered up the bank, and then disappeared into the line of trees. He didn't venture far, and always kept alert for any signs of danger coming from either around the lack or from Hiccup himself. The dragon wasn't sure what exactly he was looking for, but there just had to be something out here that he could give his friend for breakfast.

After Hiccup had drifted off to sleep, he barely moved that night for he had been rather content in his sleep. For one he had been warm, warmer than what he had expected in such a place, his dreams had been uneventful. He had simply been too tired to dream; the night that followed it's self had been peaceful with very little disturbances. So when morning finally arrived and the sound of the birds begun to chirp away in the tree. Hiccup begun to stir.. slowly as he sat up he rubbed his tired eyes and glanced over to where his friend should of been.
Seeing that absence, caused Hiccup to sit bolt upright. "Toothless?" He called out, hoping his friend hadn't wondered of too far. With no immediate response, a small on set of worry begun to rise. Cupping his hands around his mouth Hiccup called out for the second time "Toothless! Where are you?" he yelled, only to turn around to the sound of crashes.
How long had he been sleeping? It can't of been that long, yet the sun was out and was beginning to beat down upon the ground hard. Picking up his spear, Hiccup grasped it in his hand. What was it..? Holding the spear tightly Hiccup was more than ready to use it as a weapon however relief suddenly flooded him as he watched the familiar figure of his friend come bounding towards him.
"There you are, I was worried!" Hiccup expressed as he headed over towards him. Upon reaching him Hiccup frowned "What have you got there bud?" He questioned, curiously to see what his friend had manged to find. It was just the an idea struck him, they didn't need a new saddle.. they could just tweak the old one, there was bound to be something near by that they could use..

Rummaging around, the dragon sniffed at the small berries of shrubs and little fungi growing on the forest floor, sometimes knowing by instinct which he should avoid, and other times too unsure of others to even bother thinking about it. He was about to give up when suddenly there was movement in the brush beside him. Now, Toothless was a hunter of fish, so this was a bit out of his element, yet somehow he knew to crouch down and remain as still as possible. His haunches wiggled in preparation for the pounce.
Unlike most animals, Toothless was an intelligent dragon who didn't feel comfortable being away for so long from his friends. So, instead of waiting for whatever it was in the bush to gorw comfortable and appear, Toothless snapped his tail to the side and it violently cracked against the tree behind him. The startling sound went off like a bullet, and whatever it was that was hiding burst forth in a flurry of leaves. Toothless was prepared for it, and launched high into the air, grasping the panicing creature in his strong jaws. His hooked teeth may have been used to keep fish from wiggling from his grasp, but they were still sharp enough to end the life of the pheasant quickly.
Just in time. Toothless' ears went up when he heard Hiccup call for him and immediately he turned and bounded back through the forest a lot less carefully as he had going in. He burst through the trees and letting out a muffled purr in excitement, the limp bird dangling from his mouth. As he did, the dragon looked pretty proud of himself, holding his head high with his prize. And he should feel every right to be considering he had never hunted a bird before and had succeeded on his first try!
Toothless laid the chicken-sized pheasant by Hiccup's feet when he had finally reached him, some stray feathers still sticking to his lips and face. Toothless grumbled and pushed it against the ground with his nose towards the other in a very clear 'look! This is for you!' When he finally raised his head again, Toothless looked at Hiccup eagerly.

As soon as his friend returned, Hiccup smiled glad to see he was alright. Yet, He still felt bad; Toothless was a dragon, and a dragon needed to fly, just like a bird did in order to stretch their wings. Yet without a saddle the two of them would struggle to even leave the ground, it only made the idea of fixing the saddle that much more important. Even if they couldn't get back.. at least they would be able to fly? As Toothless came closer what Hiccup saw upon Toothless's return was not what he expected.
Dangling from his friends mouth hung a rather large looking chicken. It looked like a chicken.. only it's feathers seemed slightly different. Even it's size seemed different, Looking towards his friend, who seemed extreamly proud of his catch Hiccup laughed. Well when a dragon was hungry there was nothing that would stand in it's way. Reaching out his hand, Hiccup petted his friend softly on his neck in praise.
Yet as soon as he petted him, his friend dropped the bird with a soft thud before gently pushing it in Hiccups direction. At first Hiccup didn't know what to make of it.. had Toothless gone out and got this for him? At that thought his heart inside his chest swelled and he felt his throat constrict. Toothless had gone out of his way to get him something to eat, clearly aware of how little Hiccup had eaten. "For me" he questioned as the dragon gave it another nudge.
With bright eyes, a smile danced across his face, before he wrapped his arms around his friends neck. He didn't know what he would of done without him. With a small whisper Hiccup spoke. "Thanks bud, I don't know what I would do without you." he stated as he pulled back. With a sniff, Hiccup swiped his sleeve across his face. He would not cry..
Picking up the bird he examined it closely.. what was it? He had never seen one before, all they had back on berk where chickens. Shrugging his shoulders none the less, Hiccup begun to slowly pluck the feathers of the bird. Maybe it would taste like chicken? Thankfully having grown up in a tribe of Vikings, Hiccup was no girl when it came to the preparation of food. With that Hiccup begun to make light work of cutting it's head of with thanks to his spear.
Once prepared and it's insides removed. Hiccup glanced to his friend, knowing that he didn't even need to ask for what was to happen next. He would cook it.. and give some to Toothless it was the least he could do after everything Toothless had done for him. "We will share it. It's only fair after all. Thanks again bud, you sure know what your doing alright."

Seeing his friend smile, Toothless released his breath that he hadn't bee aware he was holding. Warmth rumbled through him, a happiness that became tangible in the vibrating of his chest when Hiccup wrapped his arms around him, a very soft and gentle kind of purr. Toothless was a wild dragon, sure, who could take care of and defend himself. However, despite this, Toothless felt the same way as his friend. If Hiccup needed Toothless like he needed oxygen, then Toothless needed Hiccup like a dragon needed to fly (literally, but that was beside the point). And in order to show him he felt the same, Toothless stepped foreword gently and...
... then not so gently jammed his nose right into the others torso.
His version of a hug now complete, the dragon wondered off a bit, already spitting out another steady little fire stream so the boy could prepare his meal. In doing so, some of the feathers still stuck to his face was obliterated, sending out a tickling kind of smoke that made Toothless shake his head and recoil. Unfortunately for him, the damage was already done, and the dragon sneezed. Wiggling his nose and shaking his head again in vain to be rid of the feathers, Toothless ended up sneezing all along the way to the stream. At least there he could dunk his mouth in the water and wash some of the feathers away.
Once the feathers were gone, Toothless drank some of the water, staying out of his friends way as the boy prepared his breakfast. Or their breakfast, as Hiccup said. Toothless didn't think it was share able... in fact, he didn't even know if he wanted to eat it. The dragon looked over at Hiccup when the other mentioned sharing it, cocking his eyebrow first before wrinkling his nose a little in disgust at the sight of now featherless and headless bird-thing and looking less than excited.
Well.... Green eyes went back to the log that was still sitting in the stream, being held in place by two large rocks on both sides of the bank. Toothless reluctantly looked away from the log and returned to Hiccup. It couldn't hurt to try it he supposed... As he settled down comfortably on the ground, the dragon snorted in disagreement. He wasn't the only one who knew what he was doing. Toothless knew how to hunt and how to survive, and Hiccup knew how to free him from his saddle and cook a bird-thing. It was all a matter of perspective.

The hug was welcomed, as the sense of familiarity begun to settle in around him. As Hiccup released Toothless from the hug, He was greeted next by a rather blunt force to his torso "oaft!" was the only sound that managed to escape him at the moment, as Toothless buried his head against his chest. Laughing softly, Hiccup grinned "Toothless.." he mused as he stroked the top of the dragons head. It was amazing how Toothless always knew the right thing to do and when to do it. Hiccup certainly couldn't of pictured himself surviving alone in such a new place.
With the small fire burning Hiccup wasted no time in roasting the bird, all the while he could hear Toothless sneezing as he made his way towards the stream. Laughing all the while, Hiccup watched although Toothless was an intelligent creature sometimes Hiccup almost doubted that fact. The things his friend did, sometimes without meaning to would often send him into a fit of laughter. Still, it was always fascinating to watch. Toothless was full of surprises, all of which surprised Hiccup in turn. There was still so much to learn about them, so much they still didn't know.
When Hiccup offered to share his dinner, Toothless replied with disgust. Obviously he wasn't one for eating meat. Still it wouldn't hurt him to try it "Hey, don't look at me like that, It's not my fault your a fussy eater. Maybe you should try some? You might even like it." He stated, before testing the bird. It looked cook, but whether it would taste as good was another matter. After a few more moments Hiccup pulled a leg off of the chicken, in between his few ouch's and ah's. It was hot naturally but it did smell good..
"Here you go bud.. try some. If you don't like it we can get you some fish." Hiccup stated before he got up and headed over towards his friend, bird leg in hand and hand outstretched. Placing the piece of meat on the floor in front of Toothless, Hiccup then tentatively tasted a bit of the other leg. It was dry, and tasted nothing like chicken but it certainly had the same texture. Biting down on the meat, Hiccup chewed it for a moment, his face twisting into a look of contemplation. He wasn't to sure what to make of it. "I thought we'd head back to find the saddle.. and maybe see if it can be fixed? What do you think?" he questioned, what he would use to fix it he didn't know, he only hoped there was enough that could be saved.

Oh yes! Toothless warbled excitedly and thumped his tail against the ground once to voice his reply on that. Fixing the saddle was a grand idea!
Narrowing his eyes at the food being offered to him, the dragon leaned foreword to sniff it before Hiccup placed in the ground in front of him. It smelled decent, at least. The dragon still didn't look thrilled about it, but he grasped the leg carefully in his teeth and tossed it back in to his throat.
A Night Fury had teeth made for spearing and not for chewing, which meant it swallowed things whole and had adapted to aving special stomach acids that could dissolve nearly anything. It would be plausible to theorize then that Night Fury's could eat anything, but that was very, very wrong. Fish was delicious, and sometimes he even enjoyed strange things like bread or honey, but he was never a fan of chicken. The dragon immediately regretted trying it, wincing so badly that somehow he ended up back on his feet.
Making a strange gulping sound, Toothless worked the leg back up into his mouth like he would with a fish when sharing his meal with Hiccup. Except instead of placing it down gently, Toothless spit it out. Which, for a dragon, spitting was more like launching this bird leg out of his mouth in a fiery mass like a torpedo.
Licking his lips like he was going to be sick, the dragon shuddered a bit. When he recovered, he looked terribly displeased, and green eyes swung to Hiccup's breakfast and narrowed. Spreading out his massive wings in a kind of threatening display, Toothless hissed at it angrily, and then whirled around in a whoosh so quickly it was as if he had flown off.
He folded his wings back up as he trotted back towards the stream in a kind of sulking way. He entered the water carelessly on the opposite side of the log that the fish were trapped behind; still trying to go around it and make their way up stream. Toothless put his paws up against the log and leaned over, watching them tirelessly swimming. As graceful as a cat, Toothless managed to put his back paws on the log too, curling up and waiting for the right moment to strike.
A splash and a flash of silver later, Toothless had managed to smack one of the fish with his paw and send it flying to the shore, where it landed with a wet thunk. This wasn't how a dragon hunted usually, but it worked for now. Eventually Toothless was able to catch enough fish to at least provide himself some nourishment. He abandoned the log and went to his pile of fresh kill to eat. And very obviously giving Hiccup- or at least his breakfast- a wide berth.

Seeing Toothless's obvious reaction to the idea of flying. Hiccup smiled, he just hoped that enough of the saddle could be salvaged, and therefore easy enough to repair right then and there. Munching on his piece of bird, Hiccup swallowed it with difficulty. It wasn't the most tastiest of things he had ever tried, but it was food and he couldn't afford to be picky. Yet on the other hand, Toothless clearly could. Hiccup watched as his friend swallowed down the leg, only to throw it back up moments later. Out it came and shot directly towards Hiccup. Shielding himself with his arm, Hiccup narrowly missed the incoming object.
"That nice huh?" He chuckled at his friends obvious disgust, maybe it was just the fact it was cooked? or maybe he generally didn't like meat other than fish? Still despite Toothless's dislike, Hiccup continued to eat his share of the bird which was most of it for that matter which left him feeling pretty full. What was left Hiccup placed in his pocket, that would certainly do him for something to eat later, the only question was, what would he do about finding Toothless something to eat? He knew for a fact that they needed somewhere to stay, somewhere dry and well sheltered. He doubted there were any houses in this place, so the next best thing would have to be a cave. At least then Toothless would have somewhere to stay, until Hiccup came up with a plan.
With a full stomach, something that he'd have to thank Toothless again for that at some point. the meal had left his throat parched. Making his way over to the stream Hiccup watched as Toothless begun to bat the fish out of the water and to the bank. Who needed a spear? Kneeling beside the stream Hiccup cupped his hands and with it took a refreshing drink of water. Once done, he rose to his feet, and watched as Toothless demolished yet more fish. Hiccup really did need to sort something out for food, or who knew what would happen when Toothless got hungry later?
"Okay bud, we need to go find your saddle, we can cut it free with the spear. Hopefully there's not too much damage." He commented as he turned around on the last bit. When Toothless was well fed, Hiccup begun to make his way back in the general direction as to where he had found Toothless. At least he hoped it was the right direction. Upon the return, Hiccup was pleasantly surprised to find that the walk there didn't take nearly as long as he would of thought. So before long he came across the still tangled saddle.. at first glance it didn't look too bad, it had certainly taken some damage but Hiccup couldn't see anything majorly wrong with it.
With the spear in hand which he had carried for the duration. Hiccup went to work on sawing away at the vines, bit by bit they broke and with it the saddle flopped on the floor. Dropping his spear Hiccup reached for the saddle and carefully pulled it out to avoid the various brambles that surrounded the area. Sitting back on his heels, Hiccup was then able to examine it closer. There were a few tares here and there, and a few bits missing but it was nothing disastrous. "You know what bud? I think we might just be able to make this work!" he expressed, the one tear that was of concern was in one of the straps that secured it in place. Still, it would certainly last long enough until they could find something to repair it with.

Hiccup lead the way back into the forest after Toothless finished his breakfast, and the dragon followed him closely. Unlike the last time the two of them had taken this trip, Toothless didn't seem to favor the side Hiccup's prosthetic was located. He did occasionally glance over and watch in worry, but it seemed that Hiccup hadn't been just saying he was fine to try and keep the dragon from worrying too much about him. This time Toothless looked around curiously at the foliage around them, and at the small chattering squirrels that would leap through the trees. Sometimes Toothless would get so distracted he would stop to investigate further, and would end up scrambling to try and catch up with his rider.
Eventually the two of them found the spot that Toothless had gotten himself stuck again, in less time than the two hungry and tired companions had taken to find the stream. The dragon moved foreword and sniffed the vines and the saddle, stepping out of the way when Hiccup started using his spear to cut through the vines. Which made the Night Fury very interested indead! He thought that branch and rock was made for catching fish, and now Hiccup was using it for something else. If he hadn't felt some nervous anticipation about what Hiccup was about to say about the state of his saddle, he probably would have asked Hiccup more about it. Instead, he trust put his trust in Hiccup knowing what he was doing.
Toothless stepped in close when Hiccup finally freed the saddle, sniffing it again and looking it over with his green eyes. Not that he knew anything about saddle-making, that was one of Hiccup's many talents. He did know that those tears and missing pieces were probably not good though.
In the silence Toothless started to loose some of his hope, but Hiccup suddenly spoke and jammed that to a halt. Toothless' eyes widened a bit. So this meant he could fly? Shock quickly became ecstasy, and with a sudden warbling sound Toothless excitedly started wiggling like an overexcited puppy. He could fly again! That restless feeling in his wings came back again, stronger, fueling his racing heart. The very idea of being able to touch and taste the sky again made Toothless' whole body buzz like an exposed live wire. That excitement increased and Toothless started circling Hiccup and the saddle, too excited to sit still.
And why shouldn't he be excited! This was great news!!
Finally the dragon came to a halt in front of Hiccup, lowering his front half to the ground so he could look him in the eye without the boy having to get up. He grumbled in a questioning way, looking to help. Toothless wasn't sure what he could do, but there had to be something! Anything that would help Hiccup repair that saddle faster and get them flying again.

Behind him Hiccup could hear Toothless crashing though the forest, whilst equally remaining cautious. Well.. not that it mattered much he was sure if there was anyone near by then they had probably already been scared off. When the saddle was free, Hiccup glanced toward his friend who seemed thrilled at the prospect of flying again. With a grin Hiccup slowly got to his feet, or foot as the case may be and turned the saddle this way and that. It would last some way, maybe even for a bit longer but it was definitely in need of some TLC repairs.
"It could be worse." He commented with a smile. "Okay bud..you ready to go flying? We need to find a village, or something. It will be okay for now, but we're going to need to do a few more repairs." He announced, as he made his way around the side of Toothless. His friend seemed more than eager to fly at that moment so Hiccup wasted no time in putting the saddle on, adjusting it and doing it up. At least whilst flying they would be able to get a good look at their surroundings.
Once on, Hiccup was perhaps just as eager as his friend to fly again so, swiftly enough he climbed up, slotting his feet into the stirrups. It would prove slightly difficult to work the tail with his leg compared to when he had an actual leg. Yet that wouldn't stop him from trying at the very least. "Okay bud! lets do this!" He called to his friend as he patted his friends neck, before holding on. Within moment wind begun to rush past his face, the trees turned into nothing but blurs of colour. Up and up they went the steady beat of Toothless's wings was as familiar as his own heart beat.
Shifting his foot, Hiccup was able to get a good enough grip.. it wasn't idea but it would serve it's purpose for now. Within moments Toothless's tail opened and soon they were airborne. The rush of the wind caused his hair to fly back it felt so good to be flying, he could only imagine what Toothless must of felt. Grinning at it's success Hiccup eventually sat up, slowly he released his grip and extended his arms. The wind brushed around him, caressed him. He felt free, it felt so much better to be in the air, above everything else.
Laughing Hiccup gripped hold of his friend as they flew, eventually forcing himself to look down and to focus on the task at hand. Below them were a mass of trees, patches of green. Yet in the distance he could see small plumes of smoke did that mean there was a village? Shaking his head, Hiccup watched his friend relish in the idea of flying.. it wouldn't hurt to have a little bit of fun would it? "Okay bud.. Let's see what you got." He grinned as he spoke his usual phrase, essentially allowing Toothless free reign. He was flying again!

Toothless looked at the saddle in Hiccup's hands when the other asked him if he was ready, unsure since Hiccup hadn't done much to mend it. However, Toothless trusted Hiccup with every fiber of his being. If Hiccup believed they could use it to fly while it was all banged up like it was, then Toothless believed it too. Of course, it didn't help that the draw of the sky was almost all consuming.
The dragon didn't make it easy for Hiccup, but it wasn't intentionally so. Toothless was just too excited to stay still, quivering and shaking, and sometimes taking idle steps to the side and twitching his wings. He swung his head around to watch Hiccup, purring and warbling constantly, pupils almost consuming all of the green in his eyes. Eventually Hiccup managed, actually pretty quickly despite Toothless' excited antics, and the dragon faced foreword again and immediately braced himself against the ground, ready for lift off.
Hiccup could probably feel it when he sat on the saddle, how Toothless' muscled bunched and coiled. The dragon had stopped moving completely as well, pupils going back to normal size as he looked up at the canopy below. Somewhere deep down, Toothless' heart was rejoicing in the familiarity of Hiccup's weight on his back, but right now it was completely overshadowed by the thrill. After so long, Toothless was finally going to be able to stretch his wings and do what he was born to do.
Waiting for Hiccup to be ready was a horrible experience. Normally the dragon was patient, but after looking up at the sky longingly for four long days and nights, Toothless was reaching his limit. And when Hiccup finally signaled to him that he was ready with a small pat on the neck, Toothless barely gave the other a chance to prepare as he used his powerful muscles to leap straight up into the air. Massive wings vehemently sprung out from his body as he did, and with a powerful downward thrust, the ground began to fade beneath him. There was a clearing in the trees above just large enough for Toothless to fit through safely, and with one more powerful stroke Toothless soared right through it, sending a massive cloud of leaves twirling through the air behind him.
Hiccup spread out the mechanical tail piece as Toothless evened out, the forest now a sea of trees underneath him. His wings open like that of a plane, Toothless allowed the wind to carry him foreword now. Immediately Toothless felt a knot inside of him begin to loosen, his heart thumping heavily against his chest. The dragon could see and smell everything, and he could feel the wind as it gently kissed his scales and ghosted the thin membranes of his wings with a loving touch. Toothless relished the breathtaking sight of the trees, now just distorted blotches of color below him. Being in the air for him was satisfying and it filled his heart with such light and joy. Being in the air also felt right to the dragon, because this was something that he and all his ancestors had been doing for years. Up here, Toothless felt alive.
It was a steady pace with Hiccup leading them, and Toothless used such a thing to his advantage; closing his eyes a little in contented pleasure and sharing in the joy of flight with his rider. There was still some tingling in his wings, but with each occasional flap the feeling began to fade. The dragon would have been perfectly happy flying this way until they village too he thought, but that was only until Hiccup gave him the reigns. That phrase triggered something in the dragon. With a very sudden and very powerful burst of speed the Night Fury suddenly shot through the air like a speeding bullet, trees melding into valleys and plains within seconds.
Despite the hard flaps, and the occasional wavering as the wind picked pressed up against his wings, Toothless flew effortlessly, sticking his tonuge out the side of his mouth in pure enjoyment.
Folding angled his wings down, and it was almost like he was gliding down to the grass below except he was going much too fast for it. His legs and tail just brushed the tops of one of the trees that ended the forest line, scattering some birds in fear, before he evened out and flew level to the ground. Swiftly he passed over the plains, the wind that followed him bending the grass and nearly ripping weak bushes clear out of the ground. Toothless crossed the wide open space within seconds, reaching the opposite end of the tree line that surrounded it. Then Toothless turned back around in an arc, following the line of the forest while flapping his wings for altitude until he was back in the sky and heading in the opposite direction.
The Night Fury wanted to challenge himself, but there wasn't much to challenge himself on out here. In the mountains there might have been, but the smoke slowly rising into the air was in the opposite direction of them. Besides, too much challenge might actually ruin the saddle, since Hiccup did say that it still needed repairs. So he didn't do any spinning, or twirling, or sudden jerks to the left or the right, just to be safe. However...
Toothless suddenly turned upward, angling his flaps down so he could rise higher and higher into the sky. His speed reduced as he climbed, but it was really only noticeable to the dragon and the rider, because any onlookers would still be amazed by it. Higher and higher he climbed, until he could touch the vapor of the clouds, and the ground below them had turned into nothing but a blended canvas of color. It was here that sudden Toothless stopped all together, his body still being carried by the wind by momentum alone.
Slowly Toothless started to point downward with his nose, but did not take control of it yet. There was a moment where he felt weightless while suspended in the air, before gravity took hold of dragon and rider and started pulling them back down again. The dragon narrowed his eyes, wings automatically curling against his body, and now he took control of it, diving with incredible speed towards the ground below.

As Hiccup went to place the saddle on his friends back, each and every time he would move or shift which made it harder to even get close enough. ”Toothless..” Hiccup whined slightly, the sooner they got the saddle on the sooner they could go. With quick movements, before the dragon could shift again, Hiccup partly chucked the saddle onto his friends back, just in time. As Toothless watched him, chattering away as he often did, Hiccup made quick work of eventually doing the saddle up, despite his friend’s obvious need. Once done up, Hiccup quickly scrambled up onto the dragons back, beneath him Hiccup could feel Toothless’s whole body tense, the anticipation seemed all to consuming. Working as quickly as he could to adjust himself and the saddle, Hiccup was ready.
Patting his friend softly on the neck, Hiccup held on tight…after such an amount of time on the ground, Hiccup was almost excited at the prospect of flying again. The thought of what Toothless may well do defiantly had his adrenaline pumping. This is what he loved; he loved the rush that followed the idea of flying, even falling. It sent his heart into overdrive and made him giddy. What was more, he enjoyed it because Toothless enjoyed it, Hiccup loved the idea that Toothless was free.. or partly. It was a shame Toothless was unable to fly on his own.. which reminded him. He’d have to invent his friend a new tail at some point..
As soon as his hand, had connected with the saddle they were off. In a few seconds they began to climb upwards heading directly for the small clearing within the trees that proved to be the only barrier between the ground and the endless sky. At first, it didn’t look at all that big enough but he trusted Toothless with his life, and knew that his friend would take care of him like he had done every single time. The closer they came towards the small gap, the closer Hiccup went to the saddle. Leaning forwards he held on tightly as they breached the opening, leaves danced around them at that moment and Hiccup took a moment to glance back.
When they were clear of the trees, Hiccup shifted his foot causing the tail piece to expand. They soon flew along at a steady pace, it was only then that Hiccup spread out his arms a grin broad across his face and his eyes closed as he felt the wind surround him and ruffle his hair. They were flying! Slowly opening his eyes, Hiccup could feel the joy swelling within him, was it his own or was it his friends? He didn’t know, he only knew that when in the sky all his worries, and cares seemed to fade away. He could feel the powerful body of Toothless beneath him and he could hear each beat of his wings, which matched the beat of Hiccups own heart. He trusted his friend completely and would gladly place his life in his care.
Lowering back down, Hiccup gripped the saddle and gestured for Toothless to let loose. Suddenly it was like a gear had been shifted; their speed increased and ever so slightly by leaning forward Hiccup encouraged their speed. At this, Hiccups lips ever so slightly begun to mold into the shape of a smile as they shot forward and who knew what speed. As they flew Hiccup laughed, as he enjoyed each moment, he watched as the birds shot out from the trees and took to the sky in fear, he watched as grass it’s self was forced out of place as the tore up the ground in their wake. This lasted for only a few moments before they were climbing once again, higher and higher they went. So much so Hiccup didn’t dare look behind him, yet grinning all the way, the sight of the clouds before him caused Hiccup to extend his hand and watch as the clods of vapor danced around it.
Within moment they had broken through the clouds, up here everything was so quiet and open. The only sound that could be heard was the beat of Toothless’s wings and the sound of the wind as it rushed past his ears. Just as the levelled out, Hiccup already knew what was next to happen. ”Ready bud! he shouted over the sound of the wind. As was ritualistic of the pair, as soon as Toothless arched his body Hiccup gathered himself beneath him. With one giant leap, Hiccup extended his arms and dived. Wind rushed around him consumed him and soon he was falling. He felt weightless and free, laughing Hiccup glanced to his friend who was equally diving beside him, bringing his arms against his side Hiccup closed his eyes, and enjoyed the moment. His finger tingled, in fact his whole body tingled at the sheer feeling of falling, his stomach did several flops but that only added to the sense of adrenaline.
Hiccup knew without a doubt his friend would be there for him when the time came. Finally opening his eyes Hiccup turned his body around, his arms outstretched and within moments he grasped the saddle. Landing on his friends back, his cheek flushed red in its defense against the cold the ground begun to appear rather rapidly. Shifting his foot for a second time Hiccup sat up and with it opened up the tail. Moments before impact they had pulled up, and flew only meters above ground. ”Wahoo! Yes!” Hiccup expressed as he pumped his fist in the air. That defiantly had to of been a new record.

He felt Hiccup's weight shift as they suspended in the air, leaving just as Toothless folded his wings. As he fell into a dive, Hiccup came with him. The dragon looked at his friend as the other looked at him, the corners of his lips curling up into a wide smile. And then he enjoyed the freedom of the fall, adrenaline pumping through him with each heavy heart beat in his chest. He enjoyed the wind whistling in his ears as he dropped out of the sky, and the way the cold air buffeted against his face. Most of all though, he enjoyed sharing this moment with his best friend.
In unison, Toothless opened his eyes and turned with Hiccup, feeling that familiar and comforting weight return. Toothless opened his wings like a parachute, slowing down their dive until he heard the metal spring of the tail made a soft clinking noise as it was spread out. Within meters of the ground Toothless caught the air and flew foreword again, roaring in the pure delight, adrenaline wild and hot inside of him. So wild and hot, that it became physical, and Toothless opened his mouth to shoot out a light blue blast of fire, sharing in the celebration of their miraculous feat.
They were over the lake now, and Toothless couldn't help himself. He took a sudden and wide bank to the left, tip of his wing slicing the water and causing a towering wall of it to spring up after him. He centered when he reached the lake shore again, flapping his wings over the line of the forest. From here Toothless gradually reduced his speed, for the smoke rising in the air now was becoming darker and thicker as the two grew closer and closer.
When Toothless could make out the corners of the city, he turned downward suddenly, angling his wings back and flapping to reduce his speed. His legs, having seemingly disappeared the whole time he had been airborne, uncurled from underneath him as he descended down to the ground at a much more controlled rate than the dive the two of them had performed barely moments ago. Toothless wasn't really looking foreword to landing. Being in the air was freedom, and was a special world where there were no worries and no sadness. Landing was like leaving that special world, and this had to be the least favorite part of flying with his friend.
Unfortunately, all good things had to come to an end eventually.
Toothless dug his claws into the ground as soon as his paw touched, trotting foreword a few more paces to help distribute some of the build up energy and to dispel the remaining momentum. When he finally did come to a stop, Toothless shook his head a bit and huffed. He had chosen to land in a clearing of the forest that was just before the open fields that surrounded the city.

What happened next occurred was over in a matter of moments. Having landed upon his friends back, Hiccup prepared himself for the landing. Having pulled up with moments to spare, the two of them carried on. Laughing, Hiccup petted his friend softly on the neck, just as his friend let out one of his familiar blasts of fire in some sense. As the glided onwards, Hiccup took note of the soft change in scenery. What was once grass turned into a shimmering mirror of water, with a glance over his friends shoulder Hiccup saw his own reflection. His hair was wind swept, more importantly than that he had a rather large grin across his face.
Just then Toothless dipped his wing into the water, its surface parted under the attack of his wing, and in its defense a soft spray coated Hiccup, the small refreshing splash was welcomed and Hiccup laughed. Now it was his turn, they were so very close to the water’s edge that Hiccup was able to lean over whilst a hand danced through the water it was cold, and refreshing to the touch. With a smile, Hiccup cupped his hand and in return, lightly splashed his friend in the face.
Sitting back up Hiccup laughed to himself and saw the ground approaching rather rapidly. With a skilled approach, Toothless set them down after a few bumps they had finally come to a stop. Sliding off of his friends back, Hiccup stood beside him and cast his gaze towards what he now knew to be a city. Patting his friend’s neck Hiccup frowned. ”Well bud, let’s go see what’s going on eh?” he questioned before he begun to walk towards the city. Glancing over his shoulder, Hiccup made sure that Toothless was close behind, whether they liked dragons or not was another matter.
Still it wouldn’t hurt to try. Finally emerging from the line of the trees, Hiccup glanced around.. it seemed quiet, in fact he couldn’t see anybody. This fact both confused and concerned Hiccup, but still he continued to move closer all the while checking that his friend was close behind him, and seemingly safe. ”There had to be someone about..” He commented out loud, both to himself as well as too Toothless. When he came to a stop in the middle of the town square, Hiccup slowly pivoted around. That was when the sound of footsteps alerted Hiccup to the presence of someone else.

Jack Frost enjoyed making it snow and showing his presence here. He wanted people to know that where ever they went, Jack Frost was always there but not in a bad way. He is here to protect the children just as a guardian should do. Jack Frost flew through the tree tops, as his feet landed on them they had left frost all around. He was happy to be here, he was happy to be who he really is here, even though his friends are nowhere to be seen. It bothered the child of winter but he knew they would be here soon... Hopefully.
Jack Frost then allowed the wind to carry him. Like a snowflake, jack floated lightly through the air above the trees and above the town. He had smiled as he held his arms out flying. Jack Frost had landed on the roof of a building and saw something he thought he would never see in his life. It was a dragon. There was a boy next to him who looked about Jack's age.
Jack landed on the ground from the roof and stared he was still hidden though. The kid looked like he was looking for something. Had he seen jack earlier? Jack stepped out from the shadows and still was hidden with on the crowd of people.
